Mastering the Hellcat Pro for EDC

Did something change in the trigger on these? Far away the worst trigger out of the box I've ever felt on any gun, and I'm a Springfield fan. Two other folks at our weekly SCSA match agreed that it was the same for them. Felt like 18 lbs and had 6 miles of pull.

The other two both recommended aftermarket triggers as the fix. I opted to sell my HCP and switch to a different gun.

Not just me, either: https://www.google.com/search?q=hellcat+pro+trigger+bad

Triggers don’t bother me, I can adapt, as long as it lets the gun go bang, I have no issue, but you do have to train with the gun to get used to the trigger and how it functions, just me

I looked at the Hellcat, felt the trigger, and bought an FN Reflex. I’m not a fan of the trigger on striker fired guns, though the one on my boys 365 isn’t bad it’s a mile from that of a half decent single action. And while you can shoot with a lousy, heavy creepy trigger, why would you want to?

I don't know. Maybe I have a better version of the trigger? I got my Hellcat Pro pretty soon after it was released. Maybe becuase I also shoot Glocks (duty weapon) which IMO has the worst trigger on the planet. Maybe becuasse I have owned and shot a varitey of guns over the years.
But I really don't think there is anything wrong with the trigger.
It's not as good as the one that I had on my XD, but it's not bad, either

You've never shot a Glock?
I compete with Glocks. Glocks felt like a single action trigger compared to the HCP. And I run an Echelon for USPSA Carry Optics. Night and day difference.

The Hellcat triggers leave a lot to be desired. Apex has a fix. Wish the Hellcat triggers were more like the Echelons. And the slide serrations could be a little more aggressive.
Completely. It's amazing for as similar as those guns are on other features just how bad the trigger on the HCP came out to be, generally. While I do choose to run the GPT on most of my competition Glocks, it's purely because of preference - the OEM triggers are 100% serviceable out of the box. The HCP, for me and everyone else I know in person that tried one, was among the poorest (SCCY, I'm looking at you!).

If Springfield Armory sold an HCP with the Apex trigger in it by default, it'd likely double sales overnight... but it shouldn't be that way. The Echelon and the XD series are proof they can do much, much better.

I put an Apex in my Pro and was underwhelmed. It was marginally better than stock. The gun points well and functions perfectly. It is a close range defensive weapon, not an IPSC range toy.
