of recent, when i misspell a word, and click onto it for correction, this site doesn't seem to show the corrective spelling that it once did..

case in point, ..........ain:t

you see where i used the "colon" instead of an apostrophe..??? (')

i used to click onto that misspelt "ain:t" and the correct word came up

now i get....aunt..ant...faint...

in contrast, when i misspell didn:t

i get the corrective spelling of ''didn't"

there are a few other words, i have been noticing this lack of corrective spelling, where before the last "maintance " ...see i did it there, and NO corrective spelling for maintenance, comes up......

i even checked my "google enhanced spelling correction", and it is set to "on".....

any ideas on what you may have accidently deleted, when you moved the furniture..????

that's what we called it at another site, "furniture moving day"........

and the thread we started was....

"let's see how you can make our lives miserable moving the furniture today".... :ROFLMAO:

thanks in advance.

There are a lot of you out there that use the wrong form of the word. You know, it's spelled correctly, you just used the wrong version of it. Spell checkers in your confuser won't pick up on it, but I see them daily. Examples: there, their, there, they're; your, you're; to, two, too; etc. I do my best to overlook them since it makes me feel petty for finding them and having it bother me. It really bothers me to see errors by the news sites I use. Do they not have editors to proof these things? It's off my chest now.

I know they can. I have owned one or two. Can you name one that does ? ;)

These are websites not web forums.
Umm. yeah, what other purpose would a forms-based check as you type spell checker be used for other than comms forums? I mean it's not like anybody would use it for input validation.

For that matter SharePoint also implements spell/grammar check by default on SP Communications sites which are nothing but fancy forums.

Like I said, I wouldn't use it since the functionality is already there in modern browsers and I'm a minimalist when it comes to app dev., less server-side code, less potential bugs & security holes. 🤷‍♂️

evdrything is turned on....google has been my browser for a long, long time....

see that first word..."everything"..??

if i click onto it, the correct spelling appears.

it's just "some werds" that the spell check here does not show.......if it is on googles end, i wouldn;t know any more to do, all settings are "on", even for "enhanced" spelling.....

Try this:

7 Quick Ways to Make Chromes Spell Checker Work Again

Or take a high school class in English and learn how to spell.
Edit….

Let me add that I meant no disrespect to you by quoting your post however what was posted by @youngolddude was that most words that are being shown in spell check are not about the spelling but more about the vernacular use.

The two words that literally drive me crazy is the use of “idea” and “Ideal”
Two completely different words that are constantly being used in the wrong context.

It has zero relevance to the topic we are discussing. That is this web forum having NEVER had a spell check feature.
