Mr. Anderson

I think you mean slide, and it does, so a gun snob will turn up their nose at it for that reason. Same person would all ooh’s and ah’s if slide said Wilson, Shadow , or Wesson😏
Yeah, but…a true 1911 aficionado would j ie that Norincos have great metallurgy, and were very popular for custom builds in the 1990’s. I’ve seen lot of custom bullseye guns from the period on, at bare minimum, Norinco frames.

I’ve got a customized Norinco that I use as a .22 conversion…it’s great.

And, even though your friend worked on it in his spare time…I’m willing to bet if he was charging for that time & parts, it’d add up to not far off what a custom runs. Yes, you’re paying for the name on the big boys, but…you definitely get more than you’re gonna get with an off the shelf Springfield, Kimber, Colt, etc.

Same for AR’s.

Yes, but once you reach the limit of Your ability there’s no gain. A 1/2” rifle in the hands of a 4” shooter is no more effective than a 3” rifle is, yet the 1/2” gun will cost a LOT more.

While yes, gear can only get you so far…if you have two rifles, one that shoots 1/2” groups and the other 3”…of the shooter can only get 4” groups with the 1/2”, then they should be getting much larger groups with the 3” (probably 20”+) due to the lesser mechanical accuracy.

If they’re getting 4” groups with a 3” rifle, then their groups with a 1/2” should be down around an inch.

All things being equal, that is.
