Interestingly, I've not used the injector cleaner once... and also never had a clogged injector.
most if not all gasolines do have a "certain amount" of detergents, so an extra cleaning agent is not required.
however, its that "certain amount" that varies from brand to brand, or from an independant (low budget) station to a corporate one. independent gas stations do buy the "base formulas'" from the tank storage facilities, but it is the corporate brands that then "dial in" the additives..how do i know this....""i hauled different gasolines and diesel, and had to "dial in" those additives.
i have mentioned over the years here, i was wrencher before i drove trucks.
the added fuel cleaning agents such as Lucas, enhance what is (or isn't) in the gasolines...there are others, like Chevron Fuel Injector Cleaner..i'd stay away from Gumout, STP
as with oil additives, many times, they are not needed. i ran a Mobil gas station, and was a witness to demonstrations to the them new to the market, Mobil 1 synthetic.
no oil additives needed, but if i were to use an additive, then i'd go with Wynn's, and Wynn's only...never STP.
additives "enhance" what's already in many gasolines or oils, they do not replace them.
you may have had purchased your gasolines at name brand places, or independant places, that paid for the extra additives.
if not, well then you do you, and i'll do me, given my years in the trades.
i even put in additives such as ethanol counter re-actor (??) and Stabil for my small engines such as my snow removal equipment..as the ethanol eats away the fuel lines of that equipment..how do i know this..??? i had to replace ALL the fuel lines on them
