My EDC, Pepper Spray 😲

One thing I do every four years is spend 150-200.00 on pepper spray from the small key chain size to the large canister size for home and sometimes cars when protesters ma be a foot.
I believe in a less than lethal option available, especially when carrying a firearm. I think many confrontations can be managed with a high quality pepper spray. Now at 70 years old with osteoarthritis in my hands, pepper spray is a great option when a firearm is not justified. I usually buy a few extra small pepper sprays for give a ways to family and friends

I carry Sabre pepper spray. I spend $15 or so ever 2 or 3 years for a two pack. It's just for animals and to deter, distract, and physically annoy humans.

I seen it with the ones our sheriff dept used, you have to get hit with it to carry it at our dept, couple just walked it off, I went down cause I laughed at them……😬
Sometimes people walk off with a couple of rounds in them also 🤔, but the odds are in your favor. I got hit with blow back spraying old Fox Labs spray and that made me a believer.
The real risk in my opinion is gas pressure loss from leaving it in a hot car, something I don’t do. As far as cold, it has minimal temporary effect on gas when cold.
I have family members in law enforcement and they are believers in Fox Labs pepper spray, not so much in tasers 😬.

It's not meant to knock anyone down or put them completely out of commission. It's meant to deter non life threatening actions. I have never seen anyone get hit with reputable pepper spray and NOT react to it in some manner.

Tasers on the other hand, I've seen people just rip those off like they're nothing.

Friend worked for a pepper spray manufacturer. +2% concentration of mc and +10% oc pepper is knock you on your ***

I personally keep bear spray on hand in the small backpack size bottle

CS is good if you use it. Wife and I used to teach classes in use of CN when California required a permit to carry it. Unfortunately, many of my students were terrified of being arrested if they had to use it. Told them that if they did use it to file a police report to CYA. Not sure how many were confident enough to actually carry it. Was good pay for a while, before it became legal carry without a permit.

I worked as a security guard for 15 years, I never ever ever had to use my gun.

Almost every time that I ran into somebody who was giving me a hard time or threatening me or cussing me out I just reached in my pocket and pulled out my OC and started shaking it up. I can't think of a single time that that didn't deescalate the situation almost immediately.

Actually, that's not true I can think of one time but that one time was a baby coyote who wasn't going to take no for an answer if I didn't feed him.

I say the same thing every time this topic comes up, it's almost like people don't believe that you'll really shoot them (assuming that drawing the gun at all was justified) but they do believe that you will pepper spray them.

When I worked for G4S they issued me saber red pepper gel. I really wasn't impressed. I won't say it didn't affect me but it took an awful long time before it did.

After I left G4S I carried UDAP spray. I got exposed to that once and it didn't incapacitate me at all but to be fair it was blowback.

Now I carry Sabre Red SPRAY.

I believe if you're going to carry OC you should get exposed to it. Because if you spray somebody you're probably going to get exposed to it and you should know what to expect.

I'm also going to say, like I do every time, it's a violation of federal law to use bear spray in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. IOW it's illegal to spray bear spray on a human being.

I don't have the slightest idea if anybody's ever been prosecuted under that law but I do know the law exists.

Damn, we agree on something. Did you ever try to spray it on a Wa Wa sandwich for spice?

I don't understand why you would leave it in your car at all.

It's a rare event but I know two or three people who have actually had a can explode in their car in South Texas and South Arizona

The key words in my post are “something I don’t do”. But while driving it is attached to my dash for quick access.
