Ain’t that the truth! If it were me I’d add enough rat killer to the mix to drop those furry little F**ks as soon as they took the first nibbleAuto manufacturers make their wiring products from plant-based material, so if the manufacturers can't make you buy a new car the rodents will.
I’m not Hooked on Phonics. I’m Stuck on Stupid????
here's the thing i recall from my wrenching days, so of course long ago, things may have changed...Just looked at the final estimate on how much it would have cost for everything to get it fixed. Over $14,000! The Kelly Blue Book value is in that Ballpark value.
Yeah. Some others will benefit from my Jeep. It won’t be mehere's the thing i recall from my wrenching days, so of course long ago, things may have changed...
say that you just bought that jeep brand new...@ a cost of say $14,000
and no more than say 5 months later, there was a bad wreck, or the rodents did this....
and the cost of repairs was $14,000
the insurance back then, would pay for the repairs, since it was less than 6 months old.
nowadays, with costs being so much for parts, and labor..??
its cheaper to total it
oh, if you wanted to, you could buy back your jeep, maybe for even less that the insurance paid in totaling it...
but unless YOU turned wrenches, and can buy the wiring harnesses at YOUR mechanics pricing, and YOU had the time, then YOU could make the repairs.
the insurance companies go by the repair shops flat rate labor charges, and parts catalogs of USED parts, unless the repairs are done at a BRANDED car dealership...like Jeep..........and independant repair garage....?? the insurance WILL DEMAND USED parts, or "good-bye"......
in todays world, the insurance company totals the vehicles, then recoups thier money in salvage
and the salvage company makes maybe upwards to 5 to maybe 10 times thier money back, when a body shop or engine shop calls for those used parts.
all you had was chewed up wires....otherwise that Jeep is PRISTINE in parts.......
you lose......but others win.....
It’s interesting to me that Honda sells a Capacium tape to wrap wires in BUT they don’t install it at the factory. If you KNOW it’s a problem, why not treat it when you build the dang vehicles? Yet another wonderful planet saving idea from the morons in charge ( similar to those wonderful new fume proof gas cansMy 2002 Ford Ranger sat for 2 months last summer waiting for a part that had been eaten by rodents. My pardner's 1991 Ford F350 Dually's wiring harness was also chewed up and cost $850 to repair. Some say automakers use more plant-based biodegradable materials to reduce waste. Several class-action lawsuits have been filed against major automakers in recent years alleging that soy-based products were to blame, but these court cases were later dismissed.

Yet another wonderful planet saving idea from the morons in charge ( similar to those wonderful new fume proof gas cans). Why do folks want to fix a problem that doesn’t exist?
$$$$...and.... ¢¢¢¢....is why they do not do it on the assembly line..It’s interesting to me that Honda sells a Capacium tape to wrap wires in BUT they don’t install it at the factory. i can "see" where not much changed with the Compass..Yeah. Some others will benefit from my Jeep. It won’t be meThe Renegade has been discontinued. I’m looking at the Compass model now. Remember that “Trunk Monkey”?. I’m looking for a “Car Cat”

Yep. It was my first. I Jeep I drove in the Army had much more power than the Renegade.i can "see" where not much changed with the Compass..
Reliability Concerns:
Some sources, like Consumer Reports, have expressed concerns about the Compass's reliability compared to other compact SUVs
i personally knew truckers at places i worked at, bought them, and traded them in rather quickly
people like (or love) Jeeps, but they are not "your fathers Jeep" anymore....
i like this guy, he's been a wrencher a dang long time, and is honest about his reviews
Now you've hit on what I was avoiding saying in this thread. There is no Jeep anymore. And hasn't been in a long time.Yep. It was my first. I Jeep I drove in the Army had much more power than the Renegade.
