My "new" S&W 4516-1

Dobbinsky

Master Class
The 4506-1 I was looking at didn't pan out. Just found and purchased a minty 4516 in the box, which is fine with me. Shorter than the 4506, but still a heavy beast. This will be my first gen 3 S&W semi-auto. Range report to follow later. :)

Congrats! Always likes the S&W pistols, owned several over the years, even had the original 645

The 4516 was on my hip for a while back in the day. I eventually went back to the 1911 but it was just because I shoot that platform better than any other semi automatic. Actually liked the safety aspect of the double action 4516. With a Milt Sparks holster inside the waistband, it was not any harder to hide than a 1911. Good buy on a under appreciated firearm!

Sweet gun! Yes, it's been underappreciated for quite awhile. The tide is turning though. I'm rarely seeing nice ones for sale, and when they are, $800 seems to be a minimum. Thanks for the review. Just got my tracking number today, Should have it in my hands early next week.

They seem "chunky" because they are heavy for their size. But comparing the width with a 1911 shows it is as easy to hide inside the waistband as the 1911. I have never had a jam or misfire with mine of any sort and would carry it again today without hesitation.
