For all those near N Tx, there is a range south of Dallas-Ft Worth called ETTS.
Open to public on first come first served for bays. Bays are giant earthen berms. Think Air force Base revetments for aircraft.
3 types of bays:
Tactical: steel & paper targets. Work on drills, holster work, rifle and pistol. Transition work, etc. 65 yard bay.
Pistol: shorter bays . PCC or pistol only. Paper and steel
Competition: practice your pistol craft and speed. Bays are set up with the “screens” to move thru and practice shooting on the move
$40 a day. First come first served. Can move between all three bays if open. No time limit. Rapid fire work allowed. No calibers over .308 in certain bays. Members can reserve bays and have members only bays plus a long distance bay.
Weekends and holidays will be busy though. Back your vehicle up to the bay and go to town. Folks bring small tables to reload from, etc. bay has a small cover and a barrel, but a folding table, truck tailgate or similar plus some folding chairs to take a break are recommeneded. Almost all bays have a small covering to back vehicle into to get some shade from the Texas sun.
@SimonRL and I shot there yesterday.
