Of course, Memphis being Memphis there are already calls of an un-necessary shooting. Along with demands for release of body cam footage. IDK if the Guardsmen have body cams.

The guardsmen patrolling the streets are indeed MPs. Regular guardsmen are limited to support duties.

Actually, I've never seen a Guardsman in Memphis with anything more than a pistol. I'm not gonna say they don't have rifles, I've just never seen one.
