National Guard shooting

Part of the problem is that nobody knows if Johnson committed a crime. Police were sent to a shots fired call. Johnson was seen in the area with a gun and then ran from police. There's no evidence that he ever committed a crime. Only that he ran.
Only that he had a GUN and RAN when police spotted him... Now maybe he was just out for a jog and carried the gun for ballast...IDK

I get that just happening to be in the location where police were looking for a man with a gun could be a coincidence and having a gun isnt a crime BUT maybe not running wouldnt make him look so....suspiciously guilty of something

with a gun in his hand and while being chased by uniform law enforcement. how many folks run from a uniformed officer(even nat guard) with a firearm in hand that had no ill intent.
whether he committed the crime or not, he had a firearm in hand and made moves with that towards uniformed law enforcement.

Yes it is the moment in time that he posed a deadly threat to officers that is relevant.

So many points involved here. Crime no Crime. Good guy or not. Only bad people are out late (my favorite). the only point that matters regardless of all the other BS, turn with a gun toward anyone that is also armed with gun out (Esp LE) expect to get shot. Nothing else in this story matters to me. I don't see an issue.

If running holding firearm by or at the barrel/muzzle away cause what, no holster? Not saying that's what happened, but if someone did that and was shot is on both parties involved. Point the grip towards me it can be interpreted differently. That's like pointing a mag at me w/o a firearm or even a finger and apparently stating "I'll kill you" became meaningless

Hey, if you’re out in the middle of the night with gun in hand you ARE planning on shooting something. I’ve done it for ‘yotes, ‘coons, and when we had a prowler by my barn. In the latter case gun was there to shoot if necessary, in the former because I WAS going to blast a critter. INSIDE A CITY? Nope up to no good.. If you’ve got a gun in hand and refuse to follow an officers orders you are asking for trouble and it should be no surprise if you find it.
