Need advice of using a LPVO sight... Pics and video included...

Magnum50

Master Class
Hello

I little history. I've been into guns my whole adult life. 10+ years in the Army, and 20+ years in Law enforcement. Retired now for 9 years and back then it was only iron sights for me. Now that I've gotten into guns and mainly competition shooting, I've gotten pretty good with red dots/green dots. Both on my pistols and my shorter barrel rifles/AR pistols.

But now I wanted something with a little more distance reach. So, I got a Daniel Defense M4v7 pro and put a EOtech Vudu 1-6x with a goal of using it for 300 to 500 yards. Distance shooting.

Thing is I could not find a good and reliable sight picture. I was moving my head forward and back, side to side trying to get the perfect sight picture on 1x zoom to zero it. When I did and was able to get of 3 great shots but would lose the picture as soon as the shot was made.

I've never owned or used a LPVO sight before. Seems like it should be pretty basic so what am I missing, what may I be doing wrong. Any advice??? Thanks in advance.

As most want the optic as close to the barrel as possible sometimes it requires it to be higher. Regardless of magnification you shouldn't need to tilt your head only move it closer ir further depending on eye relief. You might need a taller ring/mount height? That is why you're having the issues i understand. If you have to squat down the mount is to low.

Had it professionally mounted by an Armorer because I didn't have the proper tools or know how. He installed it and tested it at 1x.

It sits 1.93 inches... copy/paste from description...

"The LT135 is in the same design family as our popular 1.5" mount, except it is 1.93" above the rail in order to get riflescopes (like the S&B ShortDot) up above top-mounted laser/illuminators like PEQ-2's and PEQ-15's... It is as simple as that.

The LT135 places the centerline of the optic 1.93" above the top of the rail. The extended cantilever positions the scope far out front over the handguard, eliminating the need to span from the receiver to the handguard."

So work on my cheek to butt placement? maybe add a butt pad for more set cheek contact?

Thx. Working through it.

As others have stated, it is an easy fix for height of scope and positioning on the rail. May need height adjustmwnt as well as minor adjustments to being moved a tad forward. Before you lock in the new mount, test what slot gives you proper sight picture.

That 1.93" was a bad decision for a LPVO and your carbine/rifle setup. 1.5" would've been the ideal height. Can you exchange the mount?
