Have been thinking that I want a Ruger SR1911. Have seen the new Lightweight full-size and it has a cost of $799 but have seen them for less online. I would also not mind a slightly used one. Does anyone here have one and do you like it?

Have shot one of the all steel commander versions and it ate everything we put thru it. Worked like I have cone to expect from Ruger products, meaning very well.

A good friend has the full size pistol, I like it a lot, he swears by it, he had owned it since they first came out, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Ruger

I owned a Ruger SR1911 Commander for a couple of years and it was reliable and accurate.

I've owned several 1911s over the years and the Ruger was one of the best because of the lower cost and quality. I'm a big fan of Ruger products.

I have a New Model Ruger Vaquero that I don't ever plan on selling or trading. I'll be picking up a Ruger AR 556(Magpull model) in the next few days, God willing...

i have had mine for about 2 years now, and luv it....but it ain't no lightweight.

I remember when I was at the NRA convention in Pittsburgh, years ago, was talking with Michael Baine, he took us over to the Ruger booth and showed us the new Ruger 1911, then he brought out his personal Ruger 1911, my shop will occasionally get one in, but they don’t last long.

i got mine online, from Gunbroker and a really GREAT dealer. paid a wee bit more back then, but........i don't regret it one bit.

I find that interesting. Here in New Mexico my LGS says Ruger products do not sell good now. They used to but since prices have gone up they tend to purchase other brands. The full-size 1911 he had there, brand new, was$1129.00 plus tax
I found one exactly the same for $835 online.

i got mine back in May 2021, from BW Outfitters, in Iowa, thru Gunbroker. (i just went and got the paper work)

the price was for $945 ( + 3% credit card fee), plus shipping, taxes, so not that bad.

GREAT gun dealer, i dealt with back then.

wasn't anything local here.

don;t forget back during the pandemic, prices on many things were higher

Yea, I don’t do online gun purchases, I want to see and handle the actual gun I’m getting, plus I rather support my local shop, plus me no got any CC’s

yeah i know, me too, regarding buying local.

but none to be found locally, in fact many guns, even some of the popular Glocks, could not be found.

but i did my homework on the dealer, and it was great, so much so, i bought a couple of others from great gun shops at gunbroker.

but now, most guns are in stock locally.

Actually i found a new Ruger lightweight 5". Looks like it came out recently. MSRP is $799, online price is $599.

Just ordered the SR1911. OTD it was $678. Not a bad deal. On Ruger forum they seem to like the gun. Hopefully I will get a good one to add to the collection. Wanted another Colt but didn't want to step up to the price. I feel this one will serve me fine. I'll post a pic once I get it!

Personally, I’ve never handled a Ruger 1911 that impressed me; from mushy safeties, gritty triggers with an indistinct break, poor barrel/slide fitment…I wouldn’t.

For that price range, I’d look at a RIA or even some of the Turkish 1911’s coming in; hate to say it, but those Girsan and Tisas 1911’s are pretty dang nice for the money.

I'm just not a turkish gun person. I have nothing to lose and if it doesn't work out i could unload it pretty easily. I'm willing to give Ruger a chance.

it's like anything else.

we browse at the stores, the prices are what they are.

we shop online, like Amazon, and the prices are many times for items, less than wally's world, so we buy online.

It's been shipped and should be here by tuesday. This was the first time I ever purchased from gun broker.
