New purchase Question

Better yet, if you want a reasonable priced pistol with comes with the threaded barrel, check out the Beretta APX Tactical, I paid $369.00 and got a $100.00 rebate so I actually paid $269.00. Great gun for the price, just a FYI, plus it comes with 3-21 round mags….

Anyone know of some optics that would fit on this that are under $150?

As of now, I am planning on returning the threaded barrel I purchased through Buds Gunshop and returning the compensator to Springer Precision. I was stoked to get both, and I did think about cutting the barrel down but I don't want to use or potentially damage it and be out of luck on all fronts.

If ya really want it, a decent gunsmith should be able to easily cut it down and make it “right”. I’d guess $75-$100. You’d have something unique. Not my thing but to each his own.-just know that “blast” from a compensator may get interesting if you’re shooting under a roof/indoors😏

That's a very interesting contraption you have there. Does it function properly? Have you put live rounds through it yet? The XD9 Mod.3 has a stock 4" barrel and matching slide, hence the extra 1/2 in plus threads you have hanging out. I'm curious if the barrel/frame linkage is the same between the XD9 and the XDM models. Does the XDM barrel fit in the XD9 frame/slide to allow proper operation? I have one or two of each but never tried swapping barrels. "Close enough" might not be good enough and could cause problems. I'll bet @xdman might have a thought on this.

You might be surprised how often this question comes up re: threaded barrel for the XD9 Mod.3. Springfield does not offer one. I haven't found an aftermarket part yet. But maybe Bar-Sto Precision or other manufacturer will decide that they can sell enough to make it worth their while.

In the meantime, if that clever contraption of yours works properly, you could have the barrel cut down, crowned, and threaded to fit the comp with the stock slide. But I'm sure that would blow your budget. Just a thought.

Really, this is interesting. Keep us informed. I'd like to see what you work out.

Buds Gunshop where I bought it won't take the return because I installed it. Can I gunsmith modified to make it work for my Mod 3?

Welcome from western PA.

I didn't find a threaded barrel for my XD mod.3 either. I am surprised to hear that an XDM barrel fit in the XD mod.3 slide. I'm curious if you ever fired it with this barrel in it?

I would be more concerned that the barrel, the slide and the frame all lock up properly and operate together safely.

On another note, the extra length sticking out I would think is irrelevant to the guns operation. The gun doesn't know the barrel is 1/2" longer, nor does it care. It actually looks pretty cool.

My XDM Elite Precision has a 5.25" barrel. It will look really funny sticking out of my Mod.3. But I will swap the barrels just to check for fitment.

There are shops that will shorten, crown, and thread your barrel to fit the pistol but I'll have to check my notes to see what's been recommended here on the forum. A cursory web search turned up a few but I'd rather let someone who's used this service share their experience.

Have you test fired your pistol in its current configuration?

The 5.25” barrel in 10MM is definitely a beast and I wouldn’t even put it in the Elite model.

Yep, I understand it will stick out which isn't the concern right now. I'm mostly concerned as to whether the XDM 9mm barrel will even lock up in the XD mod.3, whether it's even safe to try shoot with that barrel installed.

My guess is NO but I don't have an XDM to try it out on my XD mod.3.

I haven't fired it but it does fit in. I'll probably have a gunsmith look at it first.
