Old_Me

Ronin
yup, my 1st 1911, was the blued 1911. my shooting buddy, that got started with a 9mm, tried mine, loved it, so i sold it to him.

this one has an "introduction price" of $699.99 (MSRP will be $1,090.00)

they are taking pre-orders.

i might go when they open, and lay down some green, and IF i can get one...??

I WILL NOT SELL IT TO ANYONE.......!!!!!!!

I won't be calling, emailing nor driving up to your house and ask for it. Hope you get it soon and enjoy it!

i have no regrets selling it to my buddy. in fact, i only paid about $600 for that blued one.

it was either that Remington, or a Para Ordinance (about $100 more) which, at the time, this was 2020, and i was only "into" the sport for like 6 months, and only heard of the Remington brand.

when my shooting buddy, even "newer" than me tried it, it was instant love of the 1911.

he was somewhat strapped for cash, as he was my mailman, and with rent, other bills, and only 2 paychecks per month, he could not afford the price, of a 1911 at the LGS, so "i made him an offer he couldn't refuse"...

now, he is a building maintenance man, for a city housing authority, making WAY MORE money than the post office.....and gets paid WEEKLY...!!

i "suspect" this New model will be a series 80, like my first one, that's ok, my Kimber Custom II and Colt Comp are as well.

but, i have to get there by 10 AM today, lay down a deposit......and wait for it.

well, i got to the store just minutes before they opened, then went right to the owner, and put a deposit on it.

i asked, "about how many are you getting in"?

he said, "we ordered up 25, but we are only going to get "up to" 10, because the factory wants to be "fair" to as many dealers as possible"

then i asked, "do you have any time frame as to when these may arrive"?

he said, "they were shipped out yesterday"..(Wednesday)

i am thinking shipped out from the factory in NY, where they always were.

so now, i'm hoping by Wednesday of next week..???

earlier will be fine too.

Is this a recent production model, or is it old/new stock? My brother has one of there enhanced models, very nice gun, excellent shooter. Didn’t know Remington was making handguns again, good news. Our local Dunhams had one of the original Remington 1911’s in stainless, awesome looking pistol, almost bought it, but I passed for my Sig M17 at the time

my buddies at the mom/pop bait/gun store, closed for 1 week at New Years, and only reopened a couple days ago...... they went to the gun show in TN..and they went to the Remington booth

this is where they too found out about the launch of the "new" Remington under the new ownership..????

i told my buddy there, about the larger gun store here having them come in, that's when he told me where they went for the week.

he cannot even buy them for the prices the bigger store is "giving them away for" at the $699.99 pricing......

soooooo...supposedly all new productions of thier 1911's and other firearms, under that new ownership

on another website, someone said he has a "new rifle", and it is a solid one at that..????

i am hopeful it is all new builds, i mean at the introductory price..???

and the dealer being cut back from 25 ordered to , "up to 10"..????

i guess i will find out for sure when i get mine, then contact the company for the build date, like i do for all my other guns.

everyone will be kept up to date, with this info, as well as pics and range reports.

Yeah I didn't know they were back in the game.

i went ahead and got from Ed Brown, an all metal MSH, as i suspect the Remington will have a plastic one...and if not, well, then given that my #1 choice of guns are 1911's, this MSH will find a home.

and i ain't gonna get into the debate on plastic MSH's...this is what i do

i hope that 1911 comes in soon. dying to get to the range with it.

I have one of the Huntsville R1s. It is the only series 80 I have but it shoots alright and I got it for practically nothing. It has a idiot scratch so I call it my "rescue gun". It was bought by a young fella who played computer games and the 1911 on his game was different and more expensive to feed than the one he bought and scratched. I put an arched msh and Hogue grips on it.

it's got me wondering about the serial number...the last 3 digits are like 750

it's like ABC 00000750

wondering if they are built in the new location, or up in the old Ilion, NY factory?

with such a low serial number, they can't be New Old Stock, like someone else suggested..????

so maybe a whole new run?

ok, the LGS got the delivery Friday, but they close at 5PM, but still sent me the email, it was in, and i picked it up earlier today.

it's a good thing that by matter of habit, many of us field strip to clean and lube, as this thing was BONE DRY, but still quite clean, and at least 1 round was fired for testing.

too many things to list, but i will try:

1) IT IS MADE IN HUNTSVILLE, AL....!!!!!!!

2) the MSH IS metal..!!

3) the plunger tube is staked

4) it IS a series 80

5) it is all steel made

6) some parts of course are MIM

7) the wood grips actually feel good to me

8) comes with 2, 7 rnd mags, bushing wrench, cable lock

9) the 1 thing i did do was switch out the mag release spring, for the lighter one, that i bought a bunch of a couple weeks ago, now all my 1911's have the same spring rate for that release.

here are some pics

believe it or not, it does say Huntsville, Al
