i replaced ALL my 1911's mag release spring with a lighter weight springs with either an Ed Brown, or Wolff springs.Just a question, are you sure your thumb didn’t hit the slide stop during recoil, this is very common on 1911’s, happens to the best of us
Yes, I was using stock mags. Were the mags you were using stock mags?
Out-Mike-Foxtrot StandingThanks for all the helpful comments.
My Ronin has not experienced premature lock back since I took the Dremel to the bottom of the slide stop lug, and brass filings from the ammunition case and lug contact have disappeared from inside the magazine well, that tells me there is no longer contact between the slide stop lug and ammunition cases.
It was not my thumb hitting the slide stop because I'm a left handed shooter.
Not the magazines nor ammunition because during premature lock backs I would rotate the magazines and use different ammunition and that did not have an effect on premature lock backs.
Since the Ronin comes with just one magazine, I purchased OEM magazine. Now when I shoot that beast regardless of what magazine is in, no more premature lock backs in over 150 rounds.
Not even remotely concerned about voiding the warranty. The Dremel work I did was minimal and would not be noticed. Please don't picture in your mind of sparks flying off of my slide stop and a big ugly spot where metal was removed. Nothing like that at all. I was sure to remove minimum amount of material.
Another quality job well done.
Thanks for welcoming me to the forum. I've learned a couple things.

Welcome to the forum from South Texas. My new Ronin would lock back every other clip. During troubleshooting I discovered brass case filings inside the mag well, specifically on the bottom of the slide stop lug. Put a couple rounds in the magazine and with the slide locked back I could see where rounds were making contact with the bottom of the slide stop lug. Removed the slide stop and observed exactly where the rounds were making contact, shiny spot. Got my Dremel out and carefully removed just enough material to where rounds were no longer making contact with the slide stop lug. It took maybe five tries. After the Dremel work, have not had a single lock back in about 150 rounds. Ammunition used; AAC. Excellent ammo by the way.
Another quality job well done. Damn I love this pistol.
