NRA Pulled a Legal but Sneaky Email Trick and I Stupidly Got Nailed

Three times I stated that this was totally my fault.

The point I was trying to make was, there has never been, ever, in 30 years of working in technology, where I have seen a link in an email that with one tap goes directly to a completed payment without user confirmation. Not once not ever.

That’s the dirty pool that I wanted to point out. I shouldn’t have bothered. Whatever.
Agree that’s strange it didn’t take you to a confirmation page

Hi,

I got that email yesterday. It was a little odd. I did not recognize the credit card number (last four digits) referenced in the "one click donation" link. I don't know where they got that card number from. It's not the one I used to pay for my membership, which I'll renew for a few more years in 2027. I decided a "lifetime" membership would not be worth it. Like @Old_Me, I'm not gonna to live that long. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Might check to see if it actually even came from the NRA. With all the email scams out there who knows.

another of the gazillion scams is that i very often get an email from PayPal that i made a purchase and it'll be finalized by the end of the day, or such gibberish.

i do not have a PayPal account.

another scam is from say Norton, or Best Buy, that again my PayPal account will be charged, and if i have any issues, or the charge is un error, to call them at the 800 number.

that's when they try to get you, by asking to confirm your account or credit card numbers.

like the anti 2A crowd, the scammers never stop.

i still have yet to collect my 1 million dollars from the Nigerian Prince.
