On non lethal SD

Like any sane person I have zero desire to shoot, much less kill, anyone. My preferred weapon of choice would be a phaser set to “stun”, but given the scarcity of phasers and the violent world we live in I carry a firearm, all day, everyday. I’ve written here about my experience with a Byrna launcher and the less than impressive performance it delivers. I have however spent time recently looking at what’s available. I found “the most powerful out of the box launcher” which delivers a whopping 40 joules of energy (3x the power of a Byrna) but that still only translates to 29 ft lbs of energy (in other words, less than 1/2 the energy of a .25 acp😳). I even saw one article out it being “too powerful for everyday carry”. And don’t even mention that this beast is a lot larger than a full size service pistol. If your goal is (as it should be) to immediately stop an aggressor does anyone really think such a thing could work? I sure don’t. And this is “the best”. I’ve seen articles about longer barrels and expansion chambers (both of which greatly increase the size of an already big piece) that can approach 100 joules. “Devastating”. Really? 73 ft lbs-approaching .25 acp power albeit with a 68 caliber 8 gram ball, but still not what anyone would call a stopper. If non lethal is your thing looks like a taser or pepper gas is still the only option likely to produce the desired result if a person is attacked. What we need is something with 20 gauge beanbag effectiveness in a small easy to carry package. Failing that, seems the old reliable handgun remains the only viable choice for self defense. Man I wish somebody would build that phaser-take my money😊

I’ve seen videos on YouTube that even 12ga LL doesn’t have much affect on doped up people. And cops have other officers with handguns And long guns to back them up. There is a line that if someone crosses I’m using the most lethal tool I have at the time. I had 2 guys with firearms try to break into my house where at the time my wife and son and myself was at home. It didn’t end up well for one of them. I have no problem keeping me or my family safe.

That is something you need to consider using a firearm. You could be put in a situation where you hesitating could end up getting you killed. I didn’t enjoy have to stop a threat but like I said there is a line if someone crosses I will do what I have to do for me or my family’s safety.

since they can't stop shooting my cats

12 ga beanbags hurt. They will distract and make you go ow!ow!ow!. But not to be shot from close range, they can kill you up close.

I prefer the 37mm Arwen with the big dildo round

Ill beanbag them in the A-SS at close range as for them to never forget

Im confused are we saying that when facing lethal force, we reeeely want to return the favor with paintballs???

Seems like once the articulable threat of a lethal attack is observed, the thug has relinquished any right to anything less than a LETHAL response. I for one have no trouble with slaying Orcs and sleeping through the night. Id feel worse if the bad guy survived to later hurt someone else

Using less lethal when lethal force is authorized only makes it harder to justify using it later. Less Lethal is like saying just shoot them in the leg. Its also begging for a civil suit and having a "witness" to say he was only asking for spare change...

Before any discussion , it must be a given to know there is a difference between Lethal , and non / less lethal .

The approate circumstances for each are different , and neither is a substitute for the other .

When out in the masses I try to move from places / areas / people that blip on my radar. Making an effort to avoid situations that could lead to the use of lethal force seems to be a reasonable action. However, if persistence to counter my attempts continues I will do whatever it takes to stop you. Entering my home uninvited initiates my doing whatever it takes to make you stop.
