On subculture societal norms

"If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got".

Things need to change if we are to curb violence in a meaningful way. As an officer on the street, I saw this at work over a period of years when we had arrested three or four generations of the same family for the same stupid crimes. It is further amplified by immigrants who refuse to assimilate into our society and laws. And when your subculture values unprovoked violence above patience and understanding, you always get what you always got. It's like watching a $hitshow perpetually repeating itself.

As long as politicians keep promising that the free train will keep taking care of them, generations will keep voting like they are voting and they keep getting what they are getting.
It will only get worse now that politicians keep bringing up the reparations promise.
I remember when a certain race of people said when Obama became president he will take care of us, same when blm said Biden will take care of them.
I am speaking about Chicago the armpit of Illinois.

Illegals should be "enlisted" (males females and children) into the Freedom Corps then trained and housed off sure, perhaps Puerto Rico and used as janissary soldiers. Of course commanded by natural born commanders. The females who do not wish to sever in a military capacity, can do the domestic work to keep the soldiers in the field. Children can also do small jobs like polishing boots in between their English classes. After say 12 years of service the survivors will be eligible for citizenship. Their missions might include taking and holding the oil fields, routing the Russians out of Ukraine, or the inevitable first assault for invasion of Cuba OR maybe thats just a cool plot for a SciFy series

Inmate. Then a couple of years later son in law, then Jr. Then a few years later grandson. Side note: DOC kept giving Inmates "good time" to Jr. he got out about three years early. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Better known as sociopathic. During my years in edutainment I worked with kids who were deemed “behavior disordered”. Most were labeled emotionally disturbed. Their issues were generated from within. Medication and lots of structure helped these kids through school. The other problem kids were considered conduct disorders. Basically rules were not for them. Most were raised by parents that followed that path as well.
These were kids who had they been a snake and gave you a bite you’d take 2 steps and die. They want what they want when they want it and woe to the person who says no. Most of their issues stem from learned behavior. Most are a product of their environment.

I think call it an armpit may be too kind. I’d have said rectum…😏

Kids never once told me”no” or disciplined when small are suddenly teenagers. Find that the world does NOT revolve around THEM and go off the deep end. Throw in large number who’ve never had a Dad or authority figure in their life and the consequences are predictable.

I don't think the criminals take time out of their day to go vote, even if they still have the right to vote.

It's the tragically uneducated and non-critical thinking people that DO vote that keeps gumming up the system.

And every time I've been at my voting location, it's not the same crowd I see at my local gun shows fondling guns they know absolutely nothing about.

This issue has so MANY different factors, one could not try to pin down the singular causation...

1. Over prescribed drugs and pills from preadolescent years and up. Kids not behaving, take him to the doctor and put him on pills. Almost all boys are ADHD, Mom dealt with me by working with me, but she was home when I got home. No dual income at my house.

2. Both parents are working. Before anyone loses their crap, I know that it's different than when I grew up. But if you are honest, you'll admit that it is an issue. What to do, I don't know.

3. Breakdown of the nuclear family. Nearly half of marriages end up in divorce. Again what to do, I don't know...

4. Baby Daddy's. Kids look for Dad's. Instead, they seek out the nearest father figure, usually the gangs are nearby and more than willing to help guide them...

I've taken enough bandwidth with my rambling, and can't offer any solutions. These observations are from more than 40 years over two careers and, honestly, I am at a loss for answers.

Ill key in on these two. First divorce is socially too easily accepted. When we were kids it was rare to hear about a divorce, and when you did, it was almost always because of violence. Today couples divorce because they married to quickly and then because they are unhappy both at the expense of the kids

Baby Daddy-see above; but lets not only blame the guy. It is just as much the responsibility of the woman (and I think a welfare system that pays for number of kids instead of just a family)

We have spawned a society of too many weak and lazy kids who seek pleasure over responsibility, legalizing THC certainly isnt doing anything to make it better

We must be different generations…divorce in the 60-70s was very common. The I don’t have to meet your expectations concept. No fault divorces were the norm, and I am not sure about marriages amongst the hippies. Think communes and free love!! BUT…somehow our kids survived, at least mine. Rest of your post is spot on.

Human beings perfected violence against one another tens of thousands of years ago and have been practicing it ever since. It is the one common thing across all cultures (that, and fried potatoes, oddly enough). Trying to do something about it is like trying the get water to run up the waterfall. Being nice to each other is, sadly, the outlier.

Exactly why I always stand in the back corner of the elevator, or sit with my back to the wall in restaurants, and of course carry a .45. But I am generally nice to everyone. Except HighPoint owners.😉

Hahaha I knew one kid in the from that time whose parents divorced; but that didnt happen until the 80s. He was my best friend. Looking back it was clear the his mom and dad werent "happy" but they somehow stayed together and I never heard of any arguments.
