Good Video:
"gun safety is everybodys business" he states.
Great quote.
The place I retired from issued Serpa's. I had already purchased an ALS/SLS rig but hadn't had it 'officially blessed' and qualified with it so couldn't carry it. I've got XXL sized hands and found if instead of hooking the release with your finger you trained to slide the finger down into full extension to the bottom of the release button before pressing inward, that alleviated issues with having your finger curled near the trigger guard during the draw-stroke. What it didn't solve was the lesser known issue of small items -especially gravel, getting into the release mechanism and locking the gun into the holster.

I was using the issued holster at an IDPA match for familiarization and the second stage had us proned out in the dirt. Sure as rain, the release mechanism got locked solid and I had to slide the holstered/cleared gun off my belt and tap it from a dozen different angles before it cleared. I also saw the cheap ace holster belt loops break off during a weapon retention class. Happily put it in the bottom drawer of the desk until retirement when I gave it back.

I have had occssions where it was mandated ( reciprosity drama ) , and one season l did an experement on purpose .

And to tick off everyone on both sides :
