There are hundreds of guns as good as Glock. Pick any. Police have a ton of proper, reliable choices.

I get it , that " hundreds" is a figure of speech. But sure , there are a Large Plethora of handguns that would be * at least reasonably suitable for Duty Use * .

But for Departments , that's just part of it . A big part is the service & support from the Mfg / authorized LE Distributors thereof . A Department doesn't want to search out random local dealers and gunsmiths . They want a Rep that comes to them , has product available in quantity, provides services , offers training to their Armorers , and liases with the mothership on their behalf.

That's Glock , S&W , Beretta, Sig , and H&K . Used to be Ruger back in the day .

Possibly things could shake up within the split between the big four & half .

S&W best poised to be able to cut into Glock's market. Sig had a boost from .Mil adoption , but the subsequent issues with Self Firing kicked them in the butt . H&K is $$ .
