Picked up a P365 xl

Sld1959

Hellcat
Finally made up my mind and picked up the P365 Xl today. It's main function will be to replace my old Makarov in my GHB once I get practiced up with it. I chose it for size, function and easy ability to upgrade if I want a red dot or light in the future. I really wanted to like the Hellcat, because I really like the look of the Rpd, but just did not.

I like pretty much like everything about it except I have an issue with the magazine release. Probably the flexibility of my thumb is the issue. I think it would be solved with an extended release but instead I will swap it over to left hand for my wife, who wants to learn to shoot it, and I will use it with my trigger finger, something I have gotten very good doing with my left hand and other pistols.

And yes, that is my Princess Jasmine figurine on my desk in the picture, it's one of my treasured things. My grand daughter gave it to me for my birthday, saying it was her favorite and would give me good luck.

I might even carry it, the p365 not the figurine, a bit come spring.

Sig is really nice but gift from the granddaughter is priceless.

;Having already had the P365, I picked up the 365XL almost as soon as it was released; and after 500 rounds, immediately became my EDC. Grip works great for me - medium size hands. It shoots well. This summer I went to dots (green - prefered for my astigmatism) on the handguns I shoot the most/would carry. Having went thru G43, P365, Walther PPS M2, 365XL - then picking up a G43X (to be sure) - the 365XL is the perfect EDC for me. (Hellcat came out to late for me to go back down that route when I was totally satisfied with the 365/XL. Hellcat does feel more Glock-like in the grip to me - more "blocky.")

I guess I did not do good enough homework. The sell several configurations. One has a 12 round mag, and a 15 round. The one I got has two 12 round mags. Guess I will pick up a couple 15 rounders when getting more magazines. I usually have at least 6 for a pistol.

Why 6? Who knows, that's the number I chose when I bought my first pistol. I think it was that if I carry three, including the one in pistol, I could rotate semi annually. For the Mak I had like a dozen I kept picking them up when I saw them.

I have something in my head that compels me to have 8-10 (10 is goal) magazines for each handgun I own.
I've got three 15 rounders for the 365XL. Carry with the 12 rounder and the a 15 rounder is the spare EDC. 15 rounder definitely changes the grip - not in a negative way - just makes it different.

I've heard nothing but positive things about the 365XL. I watched some YouTube videos about the internal mechanics and it was pretty much unanimous that the internals were upgraded when they built the 365XL. I had read that there some striker issues with the original P365 that were solved with the XL. I went with the P320X Compact, it felt better in my sasquatch sized hands, the 365XL just didn't feel right to me on the several occasions I held one.

Another on board the Sig Train-best for accuracy for me with the RDS-best a person can get with aging eye's-
Asked my wife after having shot with the RDS why it took me so long to switch from irons on a carry pistol-old fashioned I guess-

I have a P365XL which is set up with a Holosun 507K red dot for carry, along with my Hellcat. The 365XL comes with 12 round mags from the factory, but Sig also recently came out with 15 round extended mags that you can buy (shown in the pic).

I don’t think (could be wrong) that any come from the factory with 15 round mags.
