Pigeons?

Model 457

Custom
While I was standing in the hotel parking lot the other morning waiting for my crew to pick me up, some ol boy with Texas plates on his truck towing a long flatbed trailer with these plastic bins pulled up.

He asked me how much the hotel charges. I told him what I was paying a night. While chatting, I noticed what looked like a couple of big nets, the kind used in cartoons to catch escaped loonies, sticking out of the bed of his truck. I asked him what he was fixin to catch. He told me he was catching pigeons and that when the bins were "fulled up", he was taking them back to Texas to sell.

My question is who the heck catches and sells pigeons? Moreover, who buys them and why? I can't imagine anyone buying pigeons to eat.

Was he just pulling my leg or have any of you heard of such a thing?

Sky rats, pure and simple. The city ones are diseased and filthy. Couldn’t pay me enough to touch one, let alone stick a fork on one. Stupidest birds in creation. In L.A. they would nest on the floor of parking structures, making chow for the rats and possum.
