Agree. The most likely scenario for a national carry agreement could wind up being the largest cesspool of Bureaucracy in history. Plus I'm not sure I want the parking lot shooters from elsewhere armed in my StatePolice organizations had been trying for years to get universal carry for LEO's and retired LEO's prior to 9/11. The driving force force for LEOSA/HR218 that got it passed were fears of what was going to happen after the 9/11 attacks. Thinking was, the more trained good guys with guns, the better. Some states fought it but lost.
Like it or not, the key to ever getting national reciprocity on the civilian side is going to be a national training and licensing standard, and background checks on applicants. It will be a struggle unless a Suprene Court decision blows licensing out of the water
to be a national training and licensing standard,
Good luck with that. Our polarized elected officials couldn't even agree on cleaning the duck crap out of the reflecting pool. There's literally no need for any of that, and no Constitutional support for it.
Full faith and credit act overs it.
Done
No argument.
Have a valid permit in one state?
Good you can carry in all 50 and DC.
There's simply no reason to add to it
I think SOCTUS could possibly fiex this. That's how same sex marriage got recoginzed. Not through Congress, but the courtsGood luck with that. Our polarized elected officials couldn't even agree on cleaning the duck crap out of the reflecting pool.
I agree SCOTUS can fix it, but will they?I think SOCTUS could possibly fiex this. That's how same sex marriage got recoginzed. Not through Congress, but the courts
Honestly, the moment that happened, that should have created conceal carry reciprocity.
I believe they will. I could be wrongI agree SCOTUS can fix it, but will they?
Would be a better route, but, I don't see Congress making it happen.Guys SCOTUS cant do anything until theres a case that they decide to review AND thats not likely to occur until someone is charged then convicted and the appeal is lost at the federal level Dont hold your breath unless you know someone who is willing to violate some state law and be convicted. Congress or Presidential decree is a much better route.
