I keep saying this should fall under the Full Faith and Credit clause. If you are convicted of perjury in a Nevada court, you are still a perjurer in Colorado. If you are married in Maine, youre still married when you visit the Moonlight Bunny Ranch; likewise your Florida drivers license lets you drive in Texas even though all those states have different standards and requirements.

So when a nurse from North Carolina with a NC CCW, visited the 911 monument in NYC with her handgun and was arrested because NY didnt recognize NC's permit, her defense should have been FU this is the United States; but to do that she would have had to stand trial and face serious jail time. Instead NYC let her plead guilty and avoid jail.

The problem is needing a conviction to take to a higher court and no normal person wants to be convicted to test the law

ALLLL that being said passing through congress tacked onto another bill that the libs have to sign would be the simplest
 
Police organizations had been trying for years to get universal carry for LEO's and retired LEO's prior to 9/11. The driving force force for LEOSA/HR218 that got it passed were fears of what was going to happen after the 9/11 attacks. Thinking was, the more trained good guys with guns, the better. Some states fought it but lost.

Like it or not, the key to ever getting national reciprocity on the civilian side is going to be a national training and licensing standard, and background checks on applicants. It will be a struggle unless a Suprene Court decision blows licensing out of the water

Agree. The most likely scenario for a national carry agreement could wind up being the largest cesspool of Bureaucracy in history. Plus I'm not sure I want the parking lot shooters from elsewhere armed in my State :D

Good luck with that. Our polarized elected officials couldn't even agree on cleaning the duck crap out of the reflecting pool.
 
Agree. This is an issue one of the many groups that so many of us pour money into or the Civil Rights group to take a case with true merit to the SCOTUS. I realize it can't happen overnight but it should happen. If my state issues me a permit (requirements should be the same) then I should be able to carry anywhere under the United States umbrella. Firearm ownership/suppression is a power states don't want to relinquish.
 
Guys SCOTUS cant do anything until theres a case that they decide to review AND thats not likely to occur until someone is charged then convicted and the appeal is lost at the federal level Dont hold your breath unless you know someone who is willing to violate some state law and be convicted. Congress or Presidential decree is a much better route.

Would be a better route, but, I don't see Congress making it happen.
Most likely the country will go Dem at mid-terms and then we're screwed for years

You're right, a SOCTUS would require that. But those cases happen. They just nee dot take one.
But there are plenty of cases of people being arrested crossing borders in like NY and NJ and people not following their tyrannical laws and getting arrested. Heck people have been arrested in airports then their flight got diverted to NY and they had a gun checked.
