Prodigy comp barrel

I just got a 5 inch prodigy comp about two weeks ago, I noticed when I first field stripped the gun for cleaning before I took it to the range that the end of the barrel edges were razor sharp! I didn’t think too much about it because I wanted to shoot it.
After cutting my fingers several times now it’s starting to get annoying having to be extra careful handling the barrel. Has anyone else got a super sharp prodigy barrel, or am I the lucky one?

Welcome to the forum from Central Texas. I don’t have any experience with the Prodigy but there’s members here who do.

I took this picture off of their website.
The edges on the exterior part of the barrel cut do look sharp.
Luckily for you, Springfield Armory has a Top Notch Customer Service team. Call them. They’re sorta slow with emails and the Chat BS will only frustrate you.
Call them, explain the situation, and they’ll help 👍

I talked to some guy, he just wanted me to send it in for them to check out. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same issue.

I just ran my finger around the front edge of my Prodigy barrel multiple times and no injuries or bleeding occurred. Even if it did occur it is not something I would fret about because as I alluded to above I can’t think of a circumstance, even while cleaning a gun, that I would do that. Go and put a couple hindered rounds through it and see if it stays as sharp.

If it does, it’s clearly a feature for when you run out of ammo in a gun fight. You tell the bad guy to stick his finger in it and give him a nasty paper cut. That puts everybody off.
