Made it to the range again today (yay, second time in two weeks - boo, upgrades still not done). Hadn’t had my Kimber out since Feb nor my TRP since Dec, so figured it was time.

No pictures of guns or range, lots of them on here already.

Kimber was up first with 50 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 135g GDHP Short Barrel. Just put the target at 3 yards and shot 6 in each circle, then moved it to 7 yards and shot a few more into each (or at least at each) circle. 2” barrel, white dot irons, and all double action…because DA only, internal hammer 😂. Geesh my eyes suck trying to focus on irons with arms full extended. Maybe next time I’ll try a modified Weaver and bring the sights closer to my eyes (and hope for no powder burns 😂)

Was a bit disappointed (though I know I could hit a SD target), so with 50 rounds of American Eagle 230g .45 FMJ at 7 yds decided to blow out the bullseye center right and at 15 yards put some rounds into the top left…felt much better!

Both guns, all ammo, zero issues!

After those 100 rounds, put up everybody’s favorite - VITAL DUDE!

Most of you know the drill, but for the newbies -

3 yards, 5 rounds right shoulder, 5 rounds left shoulder, slow fire
5 yards, 10 rounds center fast as on target (7 round magazines, so included magazine change)
7 yards, same as 5 yards
15 yards, 5 rounds center, slow fire
3 yards, 5 strings of 2 to center, 1 to head, fast as on target

First time was with 50 rounds of American Eagle 230g FMJ.

Same target after 50 additional rounds of Federal Premium Tactical HST 230g, same drill.

Felt good to get the TRP out the range again and blast some .45 rounds! As kind of a bonus, many of the .45 rounds made the target move forward and backward so got some additional challenge trying to quickly regain my target.

Hey!

I like those big raggedy holes in the vital dude. That dude will not abide.

Nice workout. How can you hit anything with a 2" barrel? I would be useless. :p Great to see you out on the range.

Thank you for your indulgence,
