Dear friends,
Yesterday I had a training session and got there early so I could warm up using my .45 pistols. I'll put the training session in another post. I had a short amount of time before class started and I wanted to get 50 rounds through three pistols so I rushed a little bit. But half the targets turned out OK. It was such a pleasant day. It's too bad that I couldn't get outdoors to shoot.
I got my favorite lane, #4, and shot most of my targets at 10 yards.
First up is the mushy trigger of the XD45 Mod.2 Tactical. I really like this gun. I'll love it after I upgrade the trigger.
Let's blast away at the first B-8 target and see what happens.
Um, OK. Let's get serious with the second target. If I concentrate on the trigger...
It's possible to shoot this XD45 pretty good, but I have to think too hard.
Let's try a different target.
Six in the A box and one totally off the paper. Guh! Next I'll use a real "aim small, miss small" target, the 2" circle.
OK, all 15 hits are reasonably close. Because of a partial box, that's 45 rounds through the XD45. Moving on to the Garrison for 50 rounds.
I'll blast away again at the first target and get a good spread.
I'll get a little more serious with the 1/3 size USPSA silhouette.
If you're generous with the line breaks, that's only three out of the A box. Let's try a 2" circle.
Oh, that's pretty bad, one completely off the paper. I'm going to settle down for the next one and try to do better.
There ya go! Even better than the XD45. It helps when you pay attention to all the fundamentals. Next up is the Sig 1911X. I shot a few 5x3 scenarios with this one. I also sent this target out to 15 yards for a few hits.
I'll end this report with a video of a few 5x3 scenario drills, the target turns toward you 5 times for three seconds. The first target is using the Garrison at 7 yards. The second and third target is using the Sig 1911X at 10 yards. I would shoot two or three, reloading when necessary. Fun stuff.
The target carrier was getting a little finicky and would not face me after it returned to home. That's OK. It's time for class anyway. I'll be back with that report in a bit. Thanks for hanging out. You guys are the best.
