Greetings friends and neighbors!

Yes, I snuck away for a couple hours to do a little practice. I was able to procure lane #7, my favorite lane! ;)

AL9nZEW9x4FGoyhnFyWAf3wRcYXx_LJnfLx-mM9-iEuLhGkaH7MI98C5Kyt_8UKWBVA70Uq780KYf3GmnzJYfHCvx8hAMY9IGHzIocbMJxfn7Sec45OwKb6BARVuR9TFoZY2pE_VWqR66S-69SXhjXisIFcAXw=w1236-h927-no

I used my three semi-auto pistols with some 9mm WWB, Norma training .45, and Aguila "Super Extra" .22, shooting at ten yards the whole session. Spoiler alert: I was reminded that my P22 does not like this Aguila ammo and the old WWB had a few duds in this box. Drat.

I started off with 20 rounds of .45 on this B-8. The second string of 10 was much less low and left.

I pasted on a reactive and tried another ten shots, much fewer low and left.

AL9nZEXp3hD6xhlkus_cUXo5czSgs4aSVe6AwiCnmCMzSukaLA-b8an3pzGdLNbozL9dZ5wmgoqw2L0dwOBA0v52d-2mlrYtmXPud5TLT4SnCmSuwJpjSMkgdgFz2n3CUX_zz_yXe9wrIlP8ZDXMROQ_v9e-_Q=w1236-h927-no

I patched up the reactive and used it again. Seems I let a few more get low left. Drat.

AL9nZEVeGtgOmjixxYhxDgNml88SpTDeRJkk6RQ1W8VoxkkyeNGMatcgJFDNfa2UA3uY53u_WZumIOtKnigxv666Ey-J50WXHgJRjpunv1H7abZ2OMvs5QNENWyc11Fd1lMgIpMC-AX4ZM5hWuclwQU03TW1Hw=w1236-h927-no

Here's my last target with the .45. Still a little low left but consistent. Ha!

AL9nZEVvaaT-_QeSkVeX8G4w327_ywDKhw3fZvQmS0zBpIRVw3gVTit2oWTD8U2EZTRX5aVDG8Mmch2zqMzJ3xzemgQC0iz8RJtAgSS4iGJHcA5q_5ZTxXMA7e0jmLsKacl0qoM8Ou2FXAwH-vOTkC2VyMBz1A=w1236-h927-no

OK, let's shoot 50 rounds with the XD9. I was the only one in the range at the moment so I decided to shoot a 10-10-10 drill. Unfortunately the old WWB had different plans. There were a couple of duds in the first magazine so my target was short a couple of hits.

I even stuck the cartridges back in the gun and hit them again. Nothing. Drat.

AL9nZEWNjP_APTvtrdTujhLZLNb5TV6cWHw7YSY7dKTr7SLr2YBrD5dmVk4F6cxKsTL9fMLO5JTz0IRmBbIf0s_yUJGzNwKHjEJChAz9laymK1Fyb1cpOEDmRZQP0lEvM3o1if6D3VK0whgmSpd2KqdUCpTSdA=w1236-h927-no

I tried the 10-10-10 drill a second time, this time successfully. If you use Larry Vickers' scoring, this is actually a passing score.

AL9nZEVjpJxIHhn8sGMsCh7j3fC0l3CGy_gu3BXM3XF6kp7ozxZmtSNY2RozjBsR6C01StiWcLjGBlYF0yUG3havi3LW24fczo2T0tIwHQ5qPuXgY6V6ypFrOlTaVwo_vowBVsWPhBBhs4406WnFRJIHhEIqgQ=w1236-h927-no

Vickers deducts one second for every hit out of the black. This still gave me a score of 90 under the par time of 10 seconds. Yay me! I'm incredibly average! I shot this drill from low ready, 1.53 seconds for the first shot and 6.22 for the last shot.

AL9nZEXLY4zbJdyc1riOQvATY2Wenomle1pVok451al8ze0auIGwf6zbuPMSkTZXO4BxnBz6F8FcfCiRvg_SUZHxa0oDtPSP9gQfmY9PXa2Lriz70OMrJwQOBv54qGlN4mfseRZ7wT3UcPdPeEfsIAYLBT8gXg=w1236-h927-no

I did some un-timed double taps with this magazine. I let one get outside the 8 ring, a sacrifice to the bullet gods.

AL9nZEUQulyPrS7_k1zGGTZj2MA8czUNuXgC3s3Af-5zUUyXLuMaWActTnD3v1jGfE2vFKFw4rE6qA3yodwxu4lF1PhMIWf8XvB0QSb8nTkwEUxxyt7BjkLauKBeuvh7Xej2Vk9orunSlaZaqAoUI0ALBoJiqA=w1236-h927-no

This string, again, had a dud. Hence only nine shots on the target.

AL9nZEXYvcIEnJR3p5Dqm8YZSzQCUN6Zb71yEnRJCEvSt-Znv947H1YjuCs839uz6oReZ8IH--aqVvMdr1OeSRyV9QzvNhcHYSFI8nKoDc5sk3nkQyZwE8Ik8KxOczFq5hYeLVQnU-28hQmObDq1GImSjk2jmw=w1236-h927-no

The last target with my XD9 was on the reactive 12x18 silhouette. Yes! This is ten shots through only six holes.

AL9nZEVqDdhr2pYe5oVCYlXLtCItQ5HJfaZcN7FZL0r7B4qNofUa2RXoT8Jtf_EW-xNQFWC092GFk1T_ry7AcF11PgnqymCTVmWaRcQjFi374jMixofGZoXExZuyYSrpa5DKeWI_zEPnJwWx4z3hNr58O1Bxjg=w1236-h927-no

Then I patched it up and sent it back out to plink with my P22. This is what the bull looked like after 20 rounds.

AL9nZEUyiITDHg3DFrpPCGUG1TIV24bUxsRZpDlaPy2i9UKYNAbNMlxk9i-MI0WW31qfanLz0rw36vnaHMRgUvUpRQ14YNd25LackfIA9VwRIAd762dyeQBu8YTlx6_afGUwSGOwtPAyA7Z2SJA4NQFFN9n9ZQ=w1236-h927-no

Then I put ten shots to the head. Hey! I think my practice is starting to pay off.

AL9nZEWCeNpBGd0DA1IvhtfSQdhFDto9qytUoHsjYtRVahCDRlI75i6QODhcO_MvkkSFvVCR3C6G9ZNc858PaDgGOfzlwPXSXy7PwuROOe8ZcMLMf41sxgsa7CJT6Y2pimuDX0iU-eAhebOv3tjt7lIsR5BeJA=w1236-h927-no

I had a couple of magazines left so I also shot the left and right bulls. I seemed to do much better in the right one.

AL9nZEU1zeD6xXORr94jb4lwncDX2A_KvFXD_FfoH_MLtLpN54-SWjKSB084M7j3RLV-Wf5v_vM11v0HdcUYAAAqoX6oP_XqV1ZJ1iEbmWdzYTI5-bp4rWNOANgbz7QUjx_RvWYStVuNZlv3Bk8o4aHsWD_LoA=w1236-h927-no

OK, that's it. Fifty rounds from each pistol is all I had time for today. I hope you can see a little bit of improvement. I still have quite a ways to go before I'm comfortable pushing the distance out farther.

I wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year. Be blessed.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Welcome to Winchester ammo these days. Hearing lots of bad, very little good. Multiple primer failures in 50 rounds sucks. There are other much better options for 9mm range ammo for less money. I'm trying to use up the last 400 rounds of Zinc-Point I got....those are requiring double hits in excess of 10% of the ammo in my case.

Win white box sucks

Win white box sucks
I haven't bought any in over a year, but I am still sitting on a S load of it. And over many years and many thousands of rounds I have never had an issue with any of it.

People have been saying it sucks around here for the entire time I have been here. So is it the latest stuff or most recent stuff or is this just the same opinion everyone ( except me) has had for years ?

I used to buy it for a long time years ago
Was a go to brand for budget.
Last year or so, i had nothing but issues and gave up on it.

I got some 124gr NATO Win white box for the AP5, but have not used it yet.
Hope it does better than the 115 gr crap

I just shot my last 3 boxes of 124 Nato white box last week. No problems. Of course I bought it a couple years ago.

Hi guys,

That WWB was purchased about two years ago during the height of the dempanic, right around the time of one of their recalls (IIRC). I thought I had checked the lot number, maybe I missed it. Anyway, at the time you sort of had to buy whatever they had on the shelves (in CA). WWB usually treats me well. In two years I've had only one squib and four bad primers. I still have a few hundred rounds in my stash. It's ok for practice, I guess. 😉

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I had one box of wwb in .40 S&W probably 5 years ago that had fair number of multiple types of failures. I started looking at what was left and noticed a good number of the casings had dents in them. Never had any other problems since.
