Hey folks,
Mrs. BassCliff is out of town and I was bored. It's range time! I'm still working with my longer barreled 9mm pistols. I'll probably take them one more time before I clean them all up and practice with another batch. I went to the newer facility today and got my favorite lane, #2.
I shot these units in this order, Echelon 5.28 Threaded Barrel, XDM Elite Precision 5.25, Glock 17L, Echelon 4.5F Comp. The optic on the 4.5F held today. Yay!
"ET" is the Echelon Threaded Barrel. Here's 20 rounds on the first target. I used a yellow sticker because I don't like shooting at all black targets. All targets were at 10 yards for this session.
All but a couple of those hit fit under my "aim small, miss small" patch. I tried to keep them all on the 4" bullseye, but alas. Here's 20 more hits, most on the sticker.
Then I shot using the 5x3 scenario on the target carrier. It turns the target toward you five times for three seconds. This time I used 10 yards distance. (I've been shooting this drill at 7 yards.) I'll have the video later.
Moving on to the XDM. Here's the first target with 20 hits. I let a few get off the black. Boo.
Let's try a real "aim small, miss small" target. That circle is 2". If you give me some line breaks, at least half of the hits are on the 2" circle.

During the 5x3 scenario, I would fire a slow-ish double-tap at every turn for a total of 10 rounds for the drill. Next up is the 6" Glock 17L. Here's the first 20 rounds.
The Glock is being good to me today. There's only a couple outside the 10 ring. Let's try another 2" circle target.

Finally, I hope the Loctite is dry, I'll shoot the Echelon 4.5F Comp. I thought about using my backpack as a rest again. But after the first shot freestanding, I decided to let it ride and see how it went.
The first 20 hits were in a pretty good group, but I'm going to make a little adjustment to try and get that group centered.
Here's the 2" circle target. More than half the hits are inside the circle. I think the rest are just me, being my inconsistent self.
This is the 5x3 scenario target using the 4.5F Comp. I was having a little trouble finding the dot and a couple of those hits were on the target as it was turning sideways. Video later.
I brought an extra box of Winchester NATO just for fun. I shot about half of it through each Echelon.
This is 20 rounds of the NATO ammo through the 4.5F Comp.
Here is 20 rounds through the Echelon Threaded Barrel. It seems more centered but a little more spread. I shot this string without my special lens in my shooting glasses. Everything was fuzzy.
I don't know why but the triggers are different between these two Echelons. The 4.5F seems a little heavier. OK, 10 cartridges left. I'll patch up this target one more time and try to keep all the hits on my "aim small, miss small" bullseye sticker, again without my glasses.
Bah. I kept six hits on the inside. As I was packing up my kit, my instructor said "Hi" to me and asked about the Monday outdoor class. Yep, I'm going. For now he had a private lesson with another student.
That's the "Balance of Speed and Power" target that we often use in class. I did not stick around to see what they were working on. I had another appointment. I might get to the range again on Sunday after church. The music director and I had talked about going the next time we were on worship team together. I'll let you know. Oh yeah, here's the video I took of the 5x3 scenarios. They are not as impressive at 10 yards. I do better at 7 yards.
You'll notice that I flip my phone from 2x magnification back to 1x as the target is coming home. That's no trick editing. I really shot that badly today.
That's all I got for now. I had fun running through five boxes of ammo. I'm retired. It's OK. Thanks for putting up with me.
