Well, how in the world are ya?

Today I traveled to the newer facility because I wanted to work with their fancy target carriers. It's very early Spring here in the Wild Wild Upper Midwest and as I drive to the range all the trees are just about ready to burst forth, the grass is getting a little more green.

Today, doing a solo act, is my new EDC contender: XD9 Mod.3 with Holosun 507C-X2 (green). I used three boxes of S&B and the rest of this box of Blazer Brass, both 124 grain.

Today I shot mostly 15 shot strings at 10 yards, along with a few 10 shot strings, 180 rounds total with no failures. I haven't cleaned this pistol since I took my class last week. Shame on me. This is the first target, just blasting away, cold, at a very quick pace.

Target #2 I shot just as fast, but this time I kept the dot more centered.

AP1GczPGdQHIGSY9C6v9FG1noXarKksMpmm8tEmzZzadBt1hpNzcwUVTqzVUMsI8BCsAuCeW83gVW5YLfCVAok4e2d3kVBJE9o3b-M49AqzSBoD6NFWS_PLwSgniCdwua988SRo6Pkr5NQzUdy48E66fxLoQsg=w1651-h929-s-no

For target #3 I shot mostly double taps.

AP1GczMZjqvU-drev0NpjWdKqIWH7H3cjZVQ7UrsxYXMGYtJ0yVk7k7bV9oScySX1jf3TAoLxgEAv5me7Ky2dnWrUzHWATisIwjEegw_qHMLBPmPKB6GtyF3-lp9Ix1JJC2D41L0QVT5EGaCUUBMO_cs5gE_EQ=w1651-h929-s-no

Target #4 got a steady pace of one shot per second.

AP1GczNDwqmZWv1JOCrSO3K4i_UcjlKMszgo3XvPtyVhdHmiF4ZjdGWzepH20jzmrpN5wB2I85AC0JtfgIErlRODQCvzJOLrYtlFyfT6o-TQeU-ktxtPaYYNNGMn0XzsR9VMbod727MKPEfkyCb5E97SnMqYlw=w1651-h929-s-no

Then I noticed that I was the only one on the range. I took out my timer and ran a quick 10-10-10 drill. I guess I ran it a little too quickly. You can tell by the spread.

Just case you're wondering, there are two hits just below the paper. Yeah, I've shot this drill much better in the past. It's been a while. I patched up this target and tried some slow fire "aim small, miss small" drills. Here's the first 3x5 card with the 1" bullseye, also 10 hits.

Let's go back to a 15 shot string and see if I can make a ragged hole on an 8" reactive circle.

AP1GczNeSDvFE3F_AbwttdlmVFLm2JBNsuMAwyJmkzE_LhRFKBp77ka2iy7dyDjP_HxQHrhrw1iOVjg9iPH9Q9rXPR5vjPGSNB1z59Pu2HaE3ubC4hCAw-xK6jvONGGyOMwQ4tu_GN5jHxZAuJrbOqE9QyvD8g=w1651-h929-s-no

Meh, I let a couple get too low again. I'll patch this up and try one more time.

AP1GczO_BLhF5d4IeUZ4xAGvYgH1cx0F6o-pLpyV54XqmVsl3Yzm1FHRyuMt4Tp4_iJhdlZORS4vjL1dWQWjyDR5P2JHnHcOny5R76CnZh_2GT3S-EV97qkqsZ4Xqpg_DDnKaqW5fBO7XelIsK-aksCwOdEoeQ=w1651-h929-s-no

Drat. I let a few get outside the 4" circle. But I guess I'd do some damage on a bad guy. ;) Next, a couple of small silhouettes with a 3x5 card and 1" bullseye, 15 hits.

AP1GczPglVoP6LRR4260_mXVq6ZUzQgRIe4OXWV6n4HnyEtyc8mo8iRm77YqDSessW6o27rgXu0c77UX-YXNpaA-tQ9LpCiiLSUmuEHjq_J2tI1AMu7bfwAQ-mubxm7RjF0BZ0e2c0pxV_XNGImD8EsA0w8ZLg=w1651-h929-s-no

OK, gimme a couple of line breaks and they're all on the card. Let's try that again.

AP1GczPtoyO_xcpuh-bkuh-0MFOilSoDYIMtpY8LdgEPPTaPVgGN1DFdMa1bnW85fw2XHnyKM7qM89q82VUhSEQWiurqxiLM8rZMO_Bg0QH2SBgydIYd6GLhlRpXN3f70R0Z_NcMz8lgX3aBV8mEkExgBRY0Hw=w1651-h929-s-no

That looks like five hits touching there just to the right of the bullseye. I'm sure the dot is zero'd and that's just me spreading the hits around. I'll get this dot thing sorted soon. Let's try this one more time, 15 hits on a freshly patched target.

OK, that's a little more centered, a few hits on the actual bullseye. The RSO even said, "Looks nice!" Let's have a glam shot just to commemorate the moment.

The next two targets were shot using the target carrier's 5x3 scenario at 7 yards. The carrier will turn the target toward me for three seconds, five times. In the first part of the video, below these two targets, I put 2, 3, or 4 hits on the target for a total of 15. In the second video I shot double taps for a total of 10 hits. Sorry, I didn't have the camera positioned very well in the second part of the video. But you get the idea.

5x3 Scenario video:

That is a pretty good self defense drill, going from low ready and putting hits on target. After a little more practice I will send the target out to 10 yards for the same drill. Fun stuff! Then I packed my kit and said goodbye to lane #7, my favorite.
