Range Report : Two HKs and a FN Acquisition

So...yesterday turned out to be a beautiful day. The clouds moved off, the winds switched from north to south, and the temp actually broke 40 degrees. I decided to bring the FNX Tactical out of hibernation. I have apprehended this firearm due to neglect on its owner's part :ROFLMAO:. The husband got cheeky with me when I called him out for never having shot it, so needless to say, it is now mine :giggle::cool:.

This is the range I belong to. It is one of two in the area, and is the least expensive and less fussy (ammo wise). They are continually adding new courses now, as they have had several new instructors express interest in using the range for their courses. They've added several new classrooms as well as drill/skills rooms. I am actually surprised that our memberships haven't increased in price this year.

Naturally it goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway), I started with the FNX.

I only had two mags and I didn't bring any spare 45ACP with me, as I didn't know how my shoulder was going to hold up. This gun shoots so well for me, I should have taken a pic of the target after the first mag, because it was pretty good. But then I got a little cocky and it showed. It was fun though. I do need to buy a few more mags for it.
This is the target when I finished with the FNX. It was out to 10 yards.

Yeah...cocky gets me low left, lol.
Next up was the VP9SK. I never get tired of shooting this one.

Target out 10 yards, this is how it looked after the first two mags.

Not horrible. It would be a dead bad guy. The rest of the mags went to the upper right circle first, then upper left, then the last went to the lower left circle. My lack of practice shows, but it doesn't bum me out like it used to. I get here when I can :).

Finally it was the CC9's turn. Every time I shoot this little beast it feels better.

As I said, this one is feeling better each time I shoot it. Ran the target out to 10 yards, and this is how it came back after the first 12 round mag.

Pretty accurate for a little gun (too bad I'm not quite as accurate ;)). After the second and third mags, the target came back like this...

Okay, my shoulder started nagging, no excuse though...just a fact. Ran it out to 10 yards one last time to dump the last two mags.

Not fantastic, but I was happy with it anyway. I haven't been able to get out here as often as I would like, but I hope that will change with the coming summer.
I fed the FNX Winchester 230gr - no issues. The HKs were fed mostly Federal American Eagle 115gr with a few 124gr mixed in. No issues with either of them either. I like this mix, so I will likely bring this group with me again soon.

Thanks for coming along.

Looks like you had great fun! I’ve actually been hem hawing between a FNX .45 Tactical and a CZ P09 C SR so I could have a handgun to shoot suppressed once in a while. Nice to see an FNX .45 in the wild! Looks like it shoots pretty good too! And glad to see I’m not the only one who lets those fundamentals slip here and there! 😃

Thanks for sharing, IMO well done 🤨👌

Hi @belladonna,

Yes! Nice job! Even your widest spread is still great "combat" accuracy and would take down any bad guy. Does Mr. belladonna know he's lost a firearm? Snooze, ya lose!

Wow, you do a fine job with that little CC9. Me and short barrels don't get along. Why? Because I put the 'mental' back in fundamentals. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for taking us along. You've got a nice facility there. Good to hear they are expanding their curriculum.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
