Got to fire the new gun today at my local indoor range. Still no optic - it (Acro 2) and plate are supposed to be here tomorrow - and I’ll be waiting on suppressor until we see where this recent judge finding suppressor and SBR registration unconstitutional since there is currently no tax attached ends up as far as purchases go.

So for this gun I decided to try something different. My very first shots were running the Vital Dude drill. Using American Eagle 230g FMJ, I shot:
3 yards, 5 rounds each right, then left shoulder (targets), slow fire
5 yards, 10 rounds center, fast as I could get on target (not very fast - irons, black serrated rear, white dot front)
7 yards, 10 rounds center, as above
15 yards, 5 rounds center, slow fire
3 yards, 5 strings of 2 rounds center, 1 round head, fast as on target - closer was a little faster for aiming
Target prior to final 5 strings. I’m sure the center “misses” were at 15 yards.
Target after those final 5 strings.
Next I ran the identical drill on same target using American Eagle Syntech flat nose, 230g, total synthetic jacket. This target is after all stages fired.
After those 100 rounds, I reapplied some shooter’s lube to the usual 1911 lubrication points, ran the Cornhole target out to 10 yards and attempted to aim and fire the remaining 50 American Eagle FMJ from my 100 rd box into the top bullseye center.
After that, it was back to a clean Vital Dude. First 50 rounds were Federal Premium LE Tactical HST. This was first gun I’ve owned that had trouble (only twice) with HST round. #5, last in a Wilson Power Mag, failed to feed/jammed gun. Reset and it fed/fired fine. #14, second to last in a Wilson Vicker’s Duty Mag, failed to feed/jammed gun. Reset and it fed/fired fine. For both of those jams I had to remove magazine and pull slide to rear to allow round to fall through magazine well. There were no more issues. Target after those 50 HST rounds.
For the final 50 rounds, I shot Federal Syntech Defense 205g, running the Vital Dude drill into same target as HST I just finished. No surprises as aim was really starting to suck after 200 rounds with tired eyes and irons. 2-3 blurry front sights

Thoughts on gun. Even after all this, the magazine release and slide stop were very very tight. More often than not, I had to use non shooting hand to release magazine (I’m hoping just a too much cerakote issue). Same with slide stop. I’ll reassess after a good cleaning this afternoon. I did seem to do better at 15 yards than usual with the longer barrel and look forward to further improvement with an optic. Gun seems well balanced and was easy to hold and shoot (2h, haven’t tried 1h yet). Thread protector was loose after every 10 or so rounds, but I know how to fix that. All in all, pretty impressed out of the box (after cleaning before firing). Feels like a solid add to my collection!
