Hello all, here is today's article posted on TheArmoryLife.com. It is titled “Review: Stan Chen Customized 1911 EMP” and can be found at https://www.thearmorylife.com/stan-chen-custom-1911-emp-review/.

As I’ve said whenever this comes up:It's a beautiful piece, but no way I'd carry it. Why? Never carry any weapon you aren't willing to lose. If, God forbid, you are in a shootout your weapon will be confiscated. It will be treated like crap, and when it is finally released back to you it will be dinged, gouged and rusty. Not to mention it only has 9 rounds compared to 15 in most pocket striker fired pieces.
Nothing wrong with driving a Bugatti. Daily driving one would be beyond stupid. As I’ve said whenever this comes up:
That makes as much sense as having a Hellcat (or Corvette, or Ferrari—whatever floats your boat) and never driving it because you might get in an accident.
Except, of course, you’re exponentially more likely to have an auto accident than get in a gunfight, and even with insurance, you’ll likely be out a lot more fixing/replacing the car than you’ll have in the firearm.
Additionally, if I use a firearm to save my life, it’s paid for itself a million times over, even if I never see it again.
It’s no reason to justify carrying a cheap, sub-par weapon.
Carry what you like.
Which sights did you use. I’m waiting on delivery of a 3” emp ronin and I want tritium sights. I have been unable to find anyI have an EMP ( not a Ronin) from 2007. I may go for the Chen Mag release. I do not carry this weapon, it is my bedside piece. Loves 124 grain and higher ammo only. Flat shooter. Replaced night sights recently because the tritium expired. This gun makes me very happy.
Or cheap beer. I require a carry piece to (1) be dead solid reliable and (2) to be one I can shoot accurately. If it meets those requirements price ( within reason-I’m not dropping 3-4 grand or more on ANY handgun) is moot. If it costs $1800 and it protects your life, even if it winds up confiscated and lost/destroyed, it was worth every penny. What is your life worth? You can always replace any “thing”.I would carry any gun that was reliable and accurate regardless of its cost. To me, there is no gun too expensive to keep my extraordinarily important hide intact and operational. Life is too short for ugly women, cheap whiskey or "budget" guns.![]()
