Revolvers ?

the article claims "When it comes to modern day revolvers, S&W and Taurus are the only two significant makers actively manufacturing revolvers in any number for self-defense needs." Nonsense. What about Ruger? I have and have had many of their fine models, some of which are perfect for self defense. Also have have many smiths and taurus to boot. I like revolvers, though don't carry them too often.
 
I love revolvers and have a bunch of 'em. 😁
I've been collecting S&Ws for many years. A S&W 642 is one of my regular carry guns. I also have some Ruger and Colt revolvers as well. I'd feel well armed with any of them. ;)

Absolutely. And Colt is making a big comeback these days. I'm especially fond of Colt's "D" frame guns. Bigger than S&W's J-frame, but smaller than a K. 6 shots and easier to shoot well. I think these are the perfect size for carry. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one of their new 3" Vipers. (y)

indeed and also, the anaconda is now coming in a short barrel with two finishes. Tempting. Also a mention to Kimber for their designed to be ccw revolvers, and charter arms as well.
 
SW, Colt, Ruger, Taurus, Charter Arms, Kimber all make viable self defence revolvers these days, obviously some are preferable to others by many folk. There are a few others lesser know like Henry off the top of my head. I am sure there are ones I am missing.

I carry either a Taurus snub or SW model 60 about 90 percent of the time these days.
 
Had a SW442 PC. Just didn’t feel I was able to put in enough range time. 100 rounds was miserable, even though .38sp. I do have a Colt Python 3”, but a bit big and heavy for CC. I will always prefer a carry gun “I” can comfortably practice with over 100-200 rounds at a session. Also why I stopped carrying a G43 and bought a Hellcat. G43 blistered my trigger finger after 100 rounds, every time I hit that threshold . The Hellcat, even without compensator, is easier on my hands.
 
While I am not a wheel-gun guy, I've more than a few conversations with customers lately who repeatedly comment on the improved quality of Taurus revolvers of late. Yes I have one (built 1987), but it sits for eternity for reasons I've posted here in the past...I have no dog in this fight, I just like to stir pots when I see them:cool:

I like revolvers, but then again like Clint said in the article, the hair I have left is pretty much all gray. :). Tom Givens published a “Snubby Drill” a while back and I gave it a whirl. I can shoot my plastic gun more accurately, but then again I can shoot a rifle quite a bit better than my plastic. A person just has to pick what works for them, and dropping a 642 in my pocket on the way out the door works very nicely.
 
I have several Taurus revolvers, old and new. The oldest is either a 79 or very early 80 and is every bit as accurate, smooth, and reliable as any Smith I have shot, a not small number over the years. Took a lot of deer with it. Second is a few years old 380 snub which goes practically everywhere in my hip pocket. It's proven reliable and accurate, trigger was a bit heavy and gritty but has smoothed up nicely.

Are these representative of Taurus, who knows, I would not specifically choose a Taurus over a comparable Smith these days (there was no comparable 380 snub smith when I decided to buy this one and the very early Taurus, well I was a broke college student when i bought that) They are just two examples I trust and carry. That said, neither would be my only gun in that old internet game, but a revolver would be, a Smith, which happened to replace a comparable Ruger 3 inch Sp101.
