RIA Pak-Out FOLDING Pump Action Shotgun

Rock Island Armory’s Pak-Out folding 12-gauge may claim the title as the most unique new gun on the SHOT Show floor this year.

The Pak-Out looks like a standard pump-action shotgun in the unfolded configuration, but looks can be misleading. The pump is spring-loaded and returns to the forward position under spring tension. So, unlike traditional pump actions where the shooter pulls the pump to the rear before pushing it forward, on the Pak-Out, you pull the pump back, then let go, and it runs forward into battery on its own, sort of like working the bolt on an AK.

The interesting part is when the gun folds up. Simply push the rear sight assembly to the rear. This retracts a locking pin, allowing the receiver to fold forward on a pivot pin at the front of the receiver, much like an AR-15 receiver pivots open for cleaning.

With the gun in the folded configuration, the magazine tube still retains the shells. This also means it is possible to load the magazine tube while the gun is broken open. On the shotgun version, the stock also folds to make a smaller overall

While it may fold to half as long, it ends up three times wider. I think that makes it harder to pack.

It's only wider because of the folding stock (to the side).

The receiver & barrel haves don't add to the width when folded on the same plane (aka axis), as per the pic.
