Ronin 1911 10mm premature slide lock

Took my new Ronin 10mm 1911 to the range and shot 50 rounds, had 3 premature slide locks. Positive it wasn’t my thumb and was holding on very tight not to limp wrist.
Any thoughts? I’ve heard could be the bullet feeding coming into contact with slide lock bolt… other than that the gun and caliber is awesome!

I took my 9mm Ronin to the range today and put 60 flawless rounds through it. Sorry to hear you had an issue with yours. Brand new guns can be ammo sensitive and generally can require a break-in period of 200+ rounds.

Did the slide lock malfunction occur with the same magazine? Different magazines?

Are you using a "thumbs forward" grip? I have to be careful with a couple of my pistols because my fat thumbs will sometimes ride the slide release and prevent the slide from locking back on an empty magazine. Is your thumb under the slide release, possibly pushing it up when you don't want it to? I must remember to keep my thumbs away from the slide lock.

It sounds like you've done some research into this behavior. Good on you. It could possibly be a defect. Those happen on rare occasions. I would complete a break-in of at least 200 rounds and note the behavior. Try some different ammo. If it's still acting up then an RMA to the mother ship may be in order. SA has good warranty support.

Thanks for the replies…I’ll shoot some more 👍🏼 I just used the magazine that came with it and only used blazer ammo. I’m going to try some other ammo, as well as the blazer again next time. I did keep in mind my thumb placement but maybe…
I stripped it down and cleaned and lubed since.
The salesman did also mention a few hundred round break in period with new 1911’s before I bought it.

Just revisited the range today…
Shot a little over 100 rounds through the Ronin 10mm and had only 2 premature slide locks. Rotating between 3 different manufacturers of ammo.
1 slide lock I might have not had a great grip trying a different hold. The other not sure... I finished the last several shots 1 handed no problems. Could be me, could be break in, could be both!
Overall happy the rate went way down from last time’s 3/50 …Slightly more confident the gun will go off with each trigger pull.
