Rules for thee, not for me..

I deal with that in the way my mother treats me and my sister differently. Doesn't matter what she does as if I did the same thing she'd be very mad.

Examples

She said she shoit me and claim self defense
She hit me with her vehicle while i was standing near my garage.

No help from law enforcement either! I wonder if her and her husband "donate" ;) money to the sheriff's department. These are the same people that are shooting my cats. Payback will be HELL on them! Cops are useless here!

Some people are not going to like my take on this. Yes I was sworn, but that was a long time ago. That said, I have made the mistake of going through TSA armed several times (I used to travel by air 4-5 times a week.) over the years where they allowed the problems to be transferred to my checked luggage where there were already properly checked firearms instead of making a big deal out the situation. In every case, I had forgotten I had something in my carry on luggage. The TSA and the local police listened and were sensible about it. In one situation, the offending products were six loaded handgun magazines sans the actual firearm. In another it was my HALO knife which was part of my skydiving gear that had been put in my briefcase months before and forgotten. The real problem there was it was an auto and in the state the airport was at, autos were illegal. That was more complicated, but it quickly resolved once I was transported off airport grounds by actual LEOs.

That said, when flying our of our local airport one day, I was in the TSA line behind our local Sheriff when he set off the metal detectors. It turned out he had several pieces of metal he did not remember he was carrying. They just decided after he pulled out several pairs of handcuffs that was enough and let him through. After we made it through the line he confessed to me that he also had a Seecamp .25 ACP in a groin holster he had forgotten to put in his checked luggage.

I would also point out that prior to changes in the law, that I, along with many others, routinely carried when flying and were encouraged by the airlines to carry the guns on our person rather than in our luggage. There were no highjacking back then until the nuts started carrying explosives with deadman switches.

I have always respected any LEO or LEO surrogate that used judgement and had little or no respect for those who chose to only go by the book.

I had a TSA Agent stop me because I had a stainless steel pen; but he let me pass with a pair of Titanium chop sticks and two rolls of quarters. He said the pen was a Fighting Pen and wanted me to have it put in my checked luggage. I gifted the pen to him as an old officer to a young officer. I truly dont think he realized why I had the chopsticks or quarters. In fairness I did eat sushi with the chop sticks while waiting to board my plane

Sometimes I think TSA is more for show than substance. I know they are working hard trying to do their best; but the regs sometimes must make it hard.

How about we just disband TSA and do away with all of this nonsense?
Well, i agree with you, but meatheads put airplanes into buildings and weekly someone goes angry and starts a ruckus on an airplane. Imagine if there was no security beforehand. 9/11 changed that forever

Fairly simple to me. Check with TSA to see if you meet the criteria to carry a weapon onto a plane if not and you get caught pay the penalty like everyone else. Follow the rules and wear what you want.

Hi,

I've donated a couple of real nice Leatherman multi-tools to the TSA, forgot them in my backpack. Doh! But to forget your firearm? That's pretty irresponsible. Still, kind of a nothingburger story. It's only because of the relation to the Guthrie case.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Years ago I flew Nashville to Atlanta to Phoenix on a job in winter. Coming home at Phoenix TSA flagged me for. Nice, small Boker pocket knife in a zippered interior pocket of the coat-it’d been there the entire trip (plus apparently a trip from Nashville to Chicago and back the prior week (same coat, didn’t wear it between trips). Fortunately I was early at Phoenix so I went back out, got a mailer and shipped it home. Always lacked much faith in TSA quality after that,
