Rusted Ruger

How many remember this badly rusted up thing, it's been bathing in motor oil for a while now. decided to get it out and put it together. it still needs to be re blued. but it works. it was frozen up solid with rust. i deleted the pics or i would post them again for ones that didn't see them

Nice. Did you strip it and clean it ?

You could hot blue it or pay someone to, but I think with, Brake Clean, Oxpho Blue and a heat gun you could do a pretty okay job cold bluing it for less than $20.

I soaked it in rust remover for a while, it was still loaded. liked to never got one of the bullets out of the cylinder. then i stuck it in Delvac 1300 for a long time. it's an old three screw Ruger that hasn't had the recall done on it and i doubt they will do it now.

I think I would want to take it as far apart as I could and clean all the small parts before I fired it. Or wasted time or money bluing it.

Ruger will give you the conversion kit for free.
