Sar USA 9mm Sport

Good afternoon.... I thought I would send a couple pictures of the storage ..... I was pleasantly surprised that the Sars case came with the handgun.... but when we got to Cabellas the kid brought the case/gun out so it was part of the deal... saved a couple of bucks.... I had ordered a lockable case for important papers/whatever a year ago... and then I bought a Masterforce tool bag at a garage sale last summer for a whole dollar.... as it turned out, the Masterforce case and Sars gun case both fit perfectly in the lockable suit case.... and that suitcase fits well on the top shelf of the closet where the grandkids cannot get to it and if they do they have to defeat the digital lock.... When I was in high school a long time ago we had lockers with locks and would always have them set so that you had to only move the dial to the third and final number... the same is true of this suitcase... just in case I would need to get to the gun in a hurry.... My elderly Father always kept his loaded 45 in the nightstand next to his bed...... I don't plan on ever carrying this gun because that requires a class to get the permit but I do have the time to take that class.... I just don't ever see a need for that though.... If I did it would be for "something to do" ...... so far, I have everything I need... and ordered a cheap nylon holster for it also.... Now to find somewhere to practice shooting it.... Thanks again for all the tips/advice/suggestions..... I think I am ready to put all this information to work....
Nice, congrats!

In my youth in a small MN town, I started shooting in the basement range at the local armory.... I also grew up on a lake so we were well away from people during the week... I also had many farm friends where we hunted.... My son lives out in the country so that's a possiblity but there are kids around so probably not.... We also used to shoot at the local garbage dump... outside of town and lots of "tin cans".... Now. I live in a major suburb of the Twin Cities so there isn't much of a possibilty here.... My friend lives in a small town not all that far and they do have a shooting range there... but I prefer to find a very secluded spot and get permission and take my time.... My friend also bought a handgun two years ago and has cleaned it, but never shot it .... something will surface..... and there is no hurry... if need be, in an emergency, I am 99% sure I would be very capable.... I also have a nephew who is a deputy sheriff and I can ask him or another nephew who lives outside of town north of us..... and I am sure he would help me.... I gave him all my gun cleaning kits and past weapons for... well... nothing.... have a good one...

Hi @professor229,

I also have young grandkids that come over to visit, sometimes we babysit for the kids. I appreciate your caution. Most of my kit is locked up in the safe downstairs. In order to have one or two units available for quick access, I have a couple StopBox devices.

It's not a safe, but can be locked. It's more of a secure retention device that keeps kids away but gives you quick access. Just a thought I wanted to share. I hope you don't mind.

I'd also suggest training and practicing as much as possible. You don't want to be fumbling around and guessing about things in an emergency.

For dry fire practice, I would recommend the G-Sight ELMS laser cartridge system. It will help you with just about everything but recoil management. I have several in 9mm and .45ACP.

OK, that's all I got for now. ;) Let me know if I can give you any more trouble.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
