On September 20, 1806, after nearly two-and-a-half years spent exploring the western wilderness, the Corps of Discovery arrived at the frontier village of La Charette, the first European settlement they had seen since leaving behind the outposts of the eastern settlements in 1804.

Based on where I currently lived and one other place Lewis & Clark literally walked through my backyards, and had established camps in both locations within 1/4 mile.

I've been on the majority of the Lewis & Clark Trail on the northern Missouri River route (coming west & going back) from the MT border to the Pacific, and along the Southern entire route that Clark took from the Pacific thru the Yellowstone River Country.

In reading the Journals those folks were really tough, especially their eating habits.
