mine get turned into toothpicks by the time i get them remotely sharp. i have gotten better with a good high dollar sharpener from various brands.
I have several knives and carry one or 2 at a time along with a pocket sharpener. My favorite knives were my Randal's, a 5 and a 7 but disappeared some years ago. I have become a TOPS fan and there are some excellent choices for every day carry both folders and fixed blade. My teacher of years past taught edged weapons along with hands on and jo stick. Tops are not stainless so there is maintenance but they are worth it. I have been involved in several knife altercations and no matter how good you my be you will carry the mark's of dance, yes my body has the mark's and my wife says I look like a California road map when I take off my shirt My arms legs hands and even my neck.have the records of the past. Stay away from knife altercations if you can they are very painful,I was trained using 3 and a half to 5 inch blade and that's what I carry in today's world because that size works for defense if needed and a multitude of odd jobs, I prefer fixed blades but I do have a few great folders. Here's my carry sharpener

I have a few edge maintainers like you posted that do a good enough job. I use a leather strop and spray it with micro spray (don't recall the number) as a 10 each side makes them death blades. Costly, but makes a world of difference over red or green rouge.
