This is Roper doing. He's a rescue, registered Catahoula, or Louisiana Leopard dog. He is spoiled rotten, has 5 beds he chooses from, comes and wakes me every morning, loves walks and hates cats! šŸ˜

My 12 Year Old Black Labrador was my Hunting, Hiking and even Fishing Companion. She died with no warning from a Stroke. Devastated was too mild a term. I moped around did a little shooting and Fishing but no Hiking my heart wasn't in it. Fast forward to my Birthday. My Wife takes me out to a Red Lobster and then asks if I'll take her to an Antique Dealer. Of course I will.. Except when I get there it's a Labrador Breeder who has six Pup's which will be ready on two weeks. My Son is their also. The two of them cooked it up and split the $1900.00 for the Pup. Skye went on Her first Pheasant Hunt in November and learned a lot from my Son's Dog. She got Her own bird that Day. I'm Hiking again!

THis is Lucy about one week after we brought her home. She's our 5th Rottie, smart, stubborn and spoiled, like her predecessors. She has about 15 toys which we've named. If we tell her to go get the red ball, she knows exactly which toy we meanand brings it back. We lost our 4th Rottie one month earlier at 11 years old, to complications of diabetes. We were heatbroken. I found a family in a rural community SE of Phoenix and drove 150 miles to check out the "runt and last of the litter". MY wife didn't want to get another dog but agreed to "ride along". The woman said this litter was an "accident", which was lucky for us. MY wife didn't want to get another dog but agreed to "ride along". She picked out this rambunctious runt. Now 4 1/2 and 80#, Lucy is the smallest Rottie we've had. She's my wife's constant companion.

Remi (white dog) is a whippet/boxer mix. Rescue
Piper is a flat coated retriever mix. Rescue

They have free rein of the whole house. Beds, couches and all.
Always on patrol for the squirrel, Amazon guy, or fallen goods when Iā€™m cooking. My patio buds as well.

We plan to let another pup rescue us in the spring. Mrs. BassCliff has been checking out all the online pictures from a couple of shelters.

We know from experience, that when the time is right one will come and give you their heart.
Our two youngest babies are heart dogs, they came into our lives after the loss of a previous baby. Our youngest is from a shelter, we lost our oldest baby last August. My wife was looking at shelters postings too, one morning she came into the bathroom and said ā€œheā€™s the oneā€. We were at the shelter when they opened, and our Cade came home.
I think maybe the first question for the Lord is why dogs donā€™t live longer.
