The HYP is the first direct impingement modern sporting rifle capable of firing high-pressure hybrid ammunition. It is chambered in 6.8x51mm, also called 277 SIG FURY, and is built to deliver raw power, reliability and accuracy. High-quality components support that job, including a steel cam path insert, a steel feed ramp and a chrome-lined, hammer-forged barrel.

The 16-inch barrel has a 1:7 twist and 5/8-24 tapered shoulder threads, and delivers high velocities and repeatable accuracy across all bullet weights. A free-floating M-LOK alloy handguard makes it easy to add aftermarket accessories and promotes smooth handling.

The rifle has a four-position adjustable mid-length direct impingement gas system. The adjustable gas block lets owners tune the rifle for the mission at hand, whether suppressed or unsuppressed and in any adverse condition.

The listed specifications are an overall length of 38 inches (35 inches collapsed), a width of 2.5 inches, a height of 7.5 inches and a weight of 8.7 pounds. The finish is black anodized, and the rifle has no forward assist. The price is $2,729.99.

Controls are fully ambidextrous, covering the bolt catch, magazine catch, safety and charging handle. A SIG Matchlite DUO curved trigger is fitted to enhance accuracy, and replaceable steel-reinforced components protect the high-wear areas.

The included magazine is a 20-round steel unit developed as part of the U.S. Army's Next Generation Squad Weapon Program, and the rifle uses the AR-10 magazine type. The HYP is covered by the SIG Sauer Infinite Guarantee, which means no receipt, no warranty card and fully transferable coverage that lasts forever.

Not a fan of DI, something about crapping where you eat😏. Also not crazy about the cartridge. 20k psi above “normal” pressures for a a few hundred fps? Looks like a solution in desperate search of a problem. I believe a 6.5 Creedmoor, a 7mm-08, and .264 Win Mag mag and numerous other cartridges will give the same results w/o ultra high pressure and “exotic” cases. Heck the ancient 6.5x55 Swede is only about 400-500 fps slower.
