Smith and Wesson emergency kit 500 magnum

Thumb arthritis aches just looking at it. Might be too much revolver for most shooters, especially most dedicated semi auto pistol users who are not used to revolvers. Its more of a collectible safe queen, with the ability to be pressed into service. Just my Opinion.

Change to .357 magnum , add about 20 rounds. Add a large blade, machete, or folding saw, cordage and water purification tablets and its closer to ready for outdoors survival that most anyone could use, as long as they are trained in survival techniques, nothing will save most ignorant wanderers...

I remember these. They came out about 10-15 years ago maybe? Purely a gimmick gun. Some collectors bought them. Maybe a few folks for bear defense. But it never really caught on. I sure wouldn't want to shoot it.

The 500 is a cannon. I’m betting darn few folks can actually hit anything with one, and if they do it’d better be first shot, ‘cause second isn’t going to be on target😏. As noted a .357/.44 mag version which included a collapsible water bottle, a water purification straw, 20 rods of ammo, a Space blanket, and one of the small “wire” saws would be a lot more practical. Fire, shelter and water are the big issues if you’re in an emergency in the sticks. In MOST of the US a decent .22 mag with 100 rounds would probably be a better option😏

Very expensive overkill for something that will for the most part just bounce around in the trunk of your car or under the seat of your truck, unused for months or years on end.

I’ll keep my 10MM and need to find a shovel some time. Yes I like S&W but in the state I live in wouldn’t be practical to play with a 500.
