So I’m going to a outdoor gun range

It’s first time out with the AR15 with the rare breed trigger in it, how would you proceed breaking out something like that? Like what do you answer when they ask if you have a stamp on the weapon or is that full auto, you know the curiosity before the hassle part. How would you react or answer questions. I’m in northeastern Oklahoma

Lots of ranges dont allow rapid fire.

You’ll have to ask the Range Officer if they allow you to rapid fire.

Friend has a binary that we are allowed to rapid fire at a range as long as we declare our intent to the range officer and show we can keep it on target and under control.

Every range is different

I would ask before you dump rapid fire rounds down range.

The ATF determined the Rare Breed Trigger (or any forced reset trigger).. to be a NFA item. Rare Breed requested an emergency injunction. So for now...pending the outcome of that they are still legal in most States. The range at the Fish and Game Club i belong to is un supervised, and you can do whatever you want. Another range i go to only allows 3 round bursts. Like others have said..you should probably ask before you start dumping mags. In my case..the cost of 223/556 ammo prevents too much of that anyway...lol.

I'm a Range Safety Officer at a public outdoor range and we, like mentioned above, have a no 'rapid fire' rule. Occasionally someone will start dumping mags at what seems like a "bump stock" rate....not full auto, but fast. I have to go over as ask them: is it full auto; is it a mechanical trigger or stock gimmick of some type; or are they just seeing how fast they can shoot. I look at their rifle (usually an AR style), and when I can see they're truthfully answering no to the first 2 questions and yes to the third, we have a talk. It goes like this, "Now that you know you can shoot fast, you can stop, or take choice 2, pack up and come with me and I'll give you your $15 range fee back before you leave."

They read and sign the rules when they come in, and we require compiiance. Not sure, but I think your trigger may still be legal while the court fight goes on, but I'd ask if rapid fire was OK at the range if I were you.

I guess thats fair. If they know ahead of time, they can choose to go someplace else. I think allowing a 3 rnd burst is a good happy medium. They get crazy at the un supervised range i go to. Alot of younger guys (which im glad to see) out there with their ARs that have bump stocks and assisted triggers. But they don't stay long. They go thru $100 in ammo in 5 min. The old farts that call a cease fire and take 1/2 hr to walk the 100yrds out to their target and back are more of more of a bummer. Or the ones that don't understand BP guns are allowed on Primitive Night only, always seem to pick the upwind stall..and fog the whole firing line....lol. But it's all good. Live and let live i say...

both my private club, and the public range (which i am a member of) allow me to rapid fire ANY of my SEMI-AUTOMATICS or REVOLVERS, but that is due to the facts that..

1) that i ask first each time, when i arrive

2) they know me very well (been a long time, established member)

3) i hit each target i shoot at

4) i qualified for a CCW

if i were to be (say) a wild shooter, or unknown, or hit everything but the targets, then that would be a

LOUD NO...!!!!!!!!!!

but i also know, they DO NOT ALLOW full automatic weapons firing....ONLY rapid firing from a SEMI automatic, or revolver..

Agreed except the qualifying for a ccw in Oklahoma that’s laughable, two people in our group didn’t hit the paper one a guy hit the paper after 4 shots 🤦‍♂️The woman got two on after a bunch of shots with the buck mark 22 pistols provided. So yeah I wouldn’t call a ccw a bonus or anything because those two mentioned passed lol total of three shots between the two hit paper 😂

Same here in Ohio.. Depends on where you take your class. 9 times out of 10 i go to my club range, and at least everybody is required to take the NRA First shots safety class before they are permitted to use the range. So that makes me feel a little better.

yeah, here to qualify, one must score at least a 195, to pass, up to 300.

at 25 yards, and best to use the highest caliber (.45 ACP) to carry "up to" that caliber.

i was told by a Florida snow bird, (that goes to the public range i go to) that down there, all he had to do was, pick up the gun, point it down range, and put it back down, pointing down range, and he passed...he had to show he can do that all safely...

don't know how true that was......

For a CCW in PA all you have to do is apply, pass a NICS check and pay $20 at the county sheriff's office, no test or class required. 5 minutes maybe.

Our county Sheriff believes everyone should have a CCW. He takes his equipment and some staff on the road on some Saturday's, on a published schedule, setting up in front of different libraries and other county locations making it easier for permit holders to re-new and encouraging new people to apply and get a CCW. Again, takes about 5 minutes on the sidewalk in front of the library on my wife's last re-new.

I have a friend and his wife that both have their CCW though neither has ever owned any gun or ever had any classes.

I’m definitely not against everyone owning weapons just some more than others 😂

Nice way to get votes from lots of people.

- Yup, I think so too. Is likely one of the best positive ways have heard of. Wishing more Sheriff's would do more of the same for their communities. Sounds like a good thoughtful guy.

IT doesn't excite me that someone who does not own a gun or had classes can get a CCW permit. I think that lends to the socialist' belief it is too easy to own and carry a firearm. I do like their support of the 2A.
Kinda where I’m at I’d like to at least know if shtf I’ve got someone behind me that has their built in safety off the trigger.
