So What Do We Think About This? (Magnetic Gun)

These have been around for quite some time. I remember seeing something like this years ago. Its just that nobody has been able to make it practical yet. IIRC battery life and power requirements are the big issues.
 
Its actually a smaller version of the rail gun concept that the Navy has been working on for many years. An extremely high speed projectile fired by means of electromagnetism.
However, this smaller rifle version doesn't seem to develop the speed or accuracy need for a practical weapon.

And the navy version has HUGE power available. Any battery a human can carry will be a tiny fraction of the power needed.
 
I think these types of kinetic weapons and direct energy weapons will be pretty impressive in future.

think air soft and paint all at 300 fps but that’s with a dinky li-ion source.

Whether it’s weapons, transport and big one space exploration, advancement in power sources will be huge which will trickle down. My opinion at least
 
Reminds me of those Freon powered BB pistols of the 70/s. Worked fine for the first few shots, then ran out of steam as they got too cold.

A railgun is not a directed energy weapon.

A laser is.

Communication technology in the future will be impressive.

i mentioned directed energy weapons and happened upon it. i can also find a reference to kinetic energy weapons, that was just the first one I came to.
