Something About The 1962 Seattle World's Fair

Dobbinsky

Master Class
I was there as a very thrilled 8-year-old!
Something DIDN'T happen there which certainly would today.
10 million visitors and not a single assault, murder, or shooting occurred.
Seattle was not anti-gun, and more conservative than liberal.

I look at the photos and realize why it was such a peaceful event.
Something is missing. Hmmmm?

I was there when I was 9. It was a great time. The picture of the double Ferris Wheel brought back memories. It was the only amusement ride that scared the crap out of me. One time I went with my Grandma who could speak six languages so she was able to converse with several of the exhibitors in their native language. She also started me drinking coffee; liked it immediately.

Good on Grandma! My Grandma often took me with her to downtown Seattle as a kid. We'd hit the trick and novelty shops along 1st Ave, the Ye Old Curiosity Shop, and Public Market where we had lunch together right above the water. Grams and Gramps lived above Seward Park (Lake Washington), where we could walk down to watch Bill Muncey and the gang race hydroplanes during Seafair.
