Sometimes one shot won't do the job

NO…you shoot to stop!! Saying you were taught to shoot to kill will end up in really bad ju-ju.
I'm not a lawyer. I'm not even close. But I mean if you're a cop and you tell them that your trainers at your Police Academy taught you to shoot to kill people is it your fault or does it become their's for the way they trained you?

I was always taught that you never ever ever say that you were trying to kill the person.

In fact all the training I've had I was never taught or never told that I was trying to kill the person. I was told very specifically "Keep shooting until they are no longer a threat."

I won't say that I was "taught" but I've read multiple posts from people like Masaad Ayoob that emphasize that you are trying to "stop the threat."

I was always taught very specifically that you are shooting to stop the threat. You're not trying to kill anybody but if as a result of you defending yourself they die that's regrettable but necessary

This !

Your goal is for them to fall down , and stop doing threatening things . With emphasis on Rapidly .

If they recieve quick EMS and good surgeons and pull thru to go to prison, cool . If they secumb to blood poisoning a week later , but took out you and three bystanders in the immeadate moment first , No Bueno.

In rough numbers , a single gunshot wound is about 25% chance of being fatal .
