Springfield Hellcat with safety.

Although it does have a trigger (blade) safety feature I was very surprised with S.A. Not putting a grip safety on it like all the XD lines that came before it.
I will say I don’t own a HellCat and won’t buy one, didn’t sit well in my hand.

Please accept my apology upfront. I'm new to this forum however not new to concealed carry (35 + years). It is my strong opinion that no safety is ever required on a defensive weapon. You would have to train extensively to build "muscle memory" in a completely defensive situation to draw your concealed weapon, disengage your safety, acquire the threat all in a second or two. It's a matter of life and death. SA makes many models with a manual safety if that's your preference. Keep calm and carry.

I'm not new to carry either, and prefer manual safeties...tens of thousands of holster presentations over many years, never failed to disengage it, in several different models. In fact, when I did, briefly, carry an auto without a manual safety, I would sweep it off anyway.

You make it sound like a monumental task. It is far from it.

No safety....

I have carried weapons with and without external safeties over the past 16 years. Both methods of carry can be done safely with the proper holster and storage system. I think Sig made an excellent choice offering the 365 with or without the safety. I think Springfield would be wise to do the same thing. Carrying a weapon is a personal choice and companies would do well to allow consumers to choose whichever option they prefer.

I will not purchase any firearm without a manual safety. If I choose. not to use the safety I will carry the weapon with the safety off. However, I feel it is always better to have the option of a manual safety.
I would guess then that you will never own a revolver..
They are carried as EDC for a long time without any issues.

Carry what you feel safe with and can operate the most effectively. I carry the Hellcat or one of my M&P's that have a manual safety daily. When practicing or training with the Hellcat, I find myself automatically sweeping for a manual safety that isn't there but I've only had the Hellcat for 4 months. With good quality holsters that completely cover the trigger guard on all my pistols, and constant practice and training, I feel safe with all of them. Only you can judge what's best for you!

Surprisingly, I had the option to get the Shield 2.0 either with or without. I say surprisingly becasue not having a manual safety isn't usually an option for me. I got it without. I have the P365 with the safety and I do use it. Whatever you feel comfortable with. If they get enough calls for it, Springfield will probably listen and put one on the Hellcat.
