Springfield Waypoint 2020 .308 w/o Adjustable Stock.

Hi Team,
I recently purchased a Springfield Waypoint 2020 .308 carbon fiber barrel model w/o Adjustable Stock along with the Leupold 6HD 3x18x44 and was wondering if it would be possible to remove the pic rail and then do direct mounts using the Leupold backcountry rings. Trying to save weight for this since it'll be a backcountry rifle.

Wanted to get your opinions/views/recommendations on this.

I have a Waypoint 2020 6.5 Creedmoor with a Leupold Mark 5HD. The rail scope mount system provides a pretty “clean” installation and operation. Wondering how direct ring mounting points may restrict the scope placement. Also, bolt handle/scope eyepiece clearance might be a consideration with potentially a lower direct mount.
