More info to complement the previous company post...

Springfield has whittled down the gun by about an inch in length while keeping everything else, akin to the old Argentine FM Hi-Powers seen on the consumer market in the early 1990s.

The new Springfield Armory SA-35 4-inch runs a steel frame, slide, and barrel, hitting the scales at 29.8 ounces unloaded. (All photos: Chris Eger/Guns.com)

When compared to a 4.25-inch Commander-length 1911, in this case, Springfield Armory’s Operator AOS Commander, the SA-35 4-inch comes in both noticeably shorter and thinner.

Attractive....

Well, guess I now have ANOTHR ONE on my list.

I've come close to getting the Girsan MCP35 DI at times, but being a traditionalist BHP owner/operator for decades this new SA-35 Detective Model is more attractive.

Will be waiting for more independent reviews.

Lastly, folks should realize that all these BHP clones/look-a-likes still have the same idiosyncrasies that are inherent in the BHP design.

For folks not familiar with this shortened version (past & present) of the BHP is that this is a very easy model to do since the frame is the same as the full-sized SA-35/previous BHP versions with just a shortened slide (with all the same small parts & sights) & barrel, with a new recoil spring guide & recoil spring (both not interchangeable with the full-sized BHP) = the top 4 parts in this picture.

Like the old Argentine FM Hi-Powers seen on the consumer market in the early 1990s.

More info on this from the NRA.

Note: In the NRA article & SOG pic above, both mention that the new "Commander-esque" 4-inch SA-35 has actually both a longer barrel and OAL than the "original Argentine Detective" FM-9s, thus the "Compact" label is more accurate in comparison.

I like it. Here I thought maybe 2 more firearms and I was done. Now they done threw another one at me. I sure wish I was rich like my buddy Beltfed.:cry:

I think my Mk. II and Mk. III Browning/FN Hi-Powers need a shorter cousin, like my full-sized 1911 herd recently got a Combat Commander cousin.

Love the looks of this while still despairing that they cant include some clean machine stippling or Colt-esque "National Match" grooves for a decent gripping surface.
